Nearly a year in Canada now and have found the whole experience pretty good so far except for two things.
Bad drivers and the lack of manners, the latter is when you stop the car your driving to let people cross either in a car park or across the road and the s just look at you and don't say thanks. I wind down the window now and say "eah mate you just dropped something" "what" and they take a look "Ya manners ya Sorry for rant but there is no excuse for a lack of manners, my accents is so strong they don't know what I'm saying anyway, other than that its all good and we are having a great time! Yes its the same when you want to change lanes, i made a post on this sometime back, no one will let you in, now i just indicate and move, and if they have to brake for me tough, its the only way to do it. The really strange thing is, is that i find Canadian people more polite in person than British people, but find British people more courteous drivers, letting you out at junctions and allowing you to change lanes. However woe betide you if you accidentally pull out in some one in UK.....you are DEAD meat....super road rage, where as here, they dont seem to perturbed. |

I'm fat and over 60 and have some physical issues due to injuries and multiple surgeries but I'm still really strong and have an excellent tolerance for acute pain, even though I'm on daily pain meds for chronic arthritis ( so that I can still work) so if I lose it usually we all get hurt. :lol: This summer at the invitation of a friend I spent some time with the Trail Brain Injury Association at their picnic and changed my notion of what being disabled is. Now I haven't had to use my cane since returning from BC. If I say I'm past it that's ok, but it's still my call.

Another neighbour is 86 and she rows for Vancouver at Dragon Boating races. She's built like Bruce Lee with a hip replacement. My dad was dead at 62 and in pretty good shape. You roll the dice... |
