"Race" is a cultural construct used to group people by physical characteristic so, yes, people do look caucausian, African, whatever. Racism is the attribution of non-physical characteristics to the people having a set of physical characteristics "black men can't swim" is racist "black men are black" is not.

"Irish" is not, of course, a race but a nationality, Melinda does not look like an Irish passport holder, compared to other European countries Ireland has a very small population of people of colour.
