Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

I dont think squad for squad Liverpool can match Man U. Man Us economic might and SAFs force of personality has allowed them to assemble a fantastically tallented and deep squad with cover across the board and strenth to compete on all fronts. 1st XI vs 1st XI they are very close now, but over a season that depth will tell.

But, I cant see too much room for improvement at old trafford, and SAF will be retiring soon which will no doubt make a difference. Liverpool are good and getting better, have a youngish manager with a job to finish and the control now to do as he wants. The next few years are going to make interesting watching as long as the edifice of debt that both clubs are constructed on doesnt come crashing down, and that could be a real possibility. Man U need to find £400M in interest and finance payments in the next few years, Liverpool not as much, but still significant amounts. Something will have to give. TBH the job of taking over from Fergusson when he goes could be just as much a poisoned challace as the England job. Wonder what the odds on a return from steve maclaren are:)

Being a Spurs fan that may also apply to me. :frown:

But you two have no expectation of winning anything surely? Thats the difference....next year will be "The Year" and all that.

Someone mentioned Liverpool not winning the league again.

I think Novo would prefer Newcastle staying up to sympathy.

I think Spurs will win the league someday, the Championship league that is.... :p:p

Obviously I'd prefer for Toon to stay up. But if it doesn't happen I won't be looking for sympathy. Once a Geordie, always a Geordie. Black & white to the bone.

I'd rather Newcastle stay up than Hull

I'm not a scouser (other than as an honourary liverpool fan), although I was raised on merseyside;)

By "manc" I was refering to a supporter of Manchester United. Of course you are not from manchester. Are you from the south coast / east anglia by any chance:sneaky:? sorry...illegal fan profiling there:D

its the earlier reference to having plenty of cups, assuming you were refering to the 70's-80's when you did have plenty of them.
