That thought had occured to me too;)

Probably he'll stay about as long as the new investors do...just long enough to realise they are not going to win anything...

Help ma boab! Sorry Novo, you'll have to look a bit further North to find my team, who are, as usual, hiding their talents very nicely at the moment. (I'm a long-suffering Dundee United supporter.)

Good on you then.

About 40 years ago I hitched from Newcastle to Dundee to watch a Fairs Cup game. I was nowhere near making it in time but fortunately was draped in my barcode scarf, so I got picked up by a bus full of supporters (who'd paid good money I suppose), and I made it through the turnstiles just in time for the kickoff.

For the life of me though, I can't remember the result.

Hah! Why is that exactly?

Money Can't Buy You Love is a very old record.

Under the Headline:

Messiah vs the Wise man goes to extra time.

Speculation was rife on Wednesday evening that one of the major obstacles to Kevin Keegan remaining in charge of Newcastle United could soon be removed - with the departure of Dennis Wise from the club.

nufc.com

And...

Newcastle United Football Club can confirm that discussions are ongoing between the Board and Kevin Keegan.

Both the Club and Kevin would like to reiterate that Kevin remains as manager. He has not resigned nor has he been sacked, as has been confirmed in respective statements made by Kevin and Newcastle United Football Club.

Statement released by the Toon this morning.

Edge of your seats, aren't you?

yes, but only because I'm about to get up and go home. Another hugely productive workday draws to a close. Damn BE.

Blame the credit crunch.

I'm sick of BBC World / BBC Radio 4 using the stupid phrase though. If I had a dollar for every time I've heard that trite apologia in the last 2 months, I could buy the Toon mesel' and buggar Ashley and Wise.

So he has gone then.

Names being quoted for the job are:

Dennis Wise - 5/2
Alan Shearer - 8/1
Houllier, Deschamps, Comacho - 10/1
Ranieri, Jol - 16/1

Can't see anyone on that list taking it, bar one. My money's on Shearer. The support structure of Wise & Jiminez that Keegan so disliked was surely assembled for Shearer...

From King Kev to Dirty Den. What a depressing thought.

One Lees fan emailed me yesterday and said that if Wise ended up being sacked he was going to personally blow up every bridge over the Tees just to try and stop him from getting anywhere near Elland Road again.

Not even Newcastle deserve Mr. Exciting as their manager. His punditry for BBC has been dull as dishwater.

I see Paolo di Canio has declared his interest in managing West Ham, following Curbishley's resignation.

And all the funny business at Man City - what an incredible week in the EPL!!! You couldn't make it up.

Beats anything ever seen on Footballers Wives / Dream Team / etc.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

Update: I've just spent 5 days in Toon and you wouldn't believe the intensity of the hatred for Mike Ashley and Dennis Wise on the streets, in the pubs and in the local press.

There's a well organized boycott on Ashley's sporting goods chain, and a large number of folk have stopped their direct debit so that their 3 year season ticket deal will be cancelled.

I think we can be quite sure that Ashley would be ill-advised to watch any more matches from the terraces among the fans... indeed to ever show up at St. James's again.

To quote Mr. Morrison "This the End, the End".

Or, in a similar vein, "The Horror, the Horror".

The Messiah will return. (But not until there's new owners).

See above. If Dennis Wise shows up at St. James's for the next match, in any capacity, let alone manager, he will not live to tell the tale.
