when did they start playing in Red i thought they had always played in blue?

The new owners changed the kit a couple of seasons ago to much chagrin in Cardiff hostelries and lava bread stores.

It was actually last season, their owner (the Malaysian gambling empire billionaire Vincent tan) announced that they would play in red because in the far east red is lucky (the Malaysian national team plays in blue) and they would become the Cardiff Dragons.

After an outcry, he promised he would not change the colour and everyone was happy again, until the day the photo's of the new seasons kit was released and was yes, you guessed it, red. The badge was of a red dragon and their precious bluebird was erased.

Then there was an outcry again and Tan announced that if the fans did not back him he would pull out, at the same time he authorised the addition of a very small bluebird on the new badge.

When Tan took over the year before they were on the verge of bankruptcy with debts over 55 million. If he pulled out they would have probably folded completely and would have had to have started again at the very bottom.

When Tan next came to the UK, he flew to Cardiff Airport to be greeted by 100's of fans proclaiming love for Tan, carrying banners welcoming him back.

They accepted the red, he even gave out 'free' red scarf's which were snapped up.

He promised to pay off all their debts and convert those debts to equity, at the moment he has not done this and the debt is now in excess of 100 million.

He gave an interview on TV which ended up on the Swansea forum's for our amusement, he wore a red shirt TUCKED INTO HIS TROUSERS which were of the Simon Cowell belt under the nipples variety and ended the interview telling the interviewer he wasn't crazy.

The picture above is of the odd, different colour red shorts, kit announced which was photoshopped by a Swansea fan, raising the waistline ALA Tan's trousers.

They may now change the color of the shorts due to the outcry, at the end of the day, they would play in pink if tan decreed so.
