May I suggest you read the statement by retailer "Robert Gough" ;)

Yogi

Read it, it doesnt disprove that hearing is damaged. He is saying that its Ok to cause age related hearing loss in young people. Would you advocate something that caused the kids to need reading glasses at that age, maybe caused macular degeneration at an early age. What about some early arthritis or artery clogging?

I downloaded a RINGTONE for my phone from http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ and at first I thought it was there for people like me who are suffering the effects of violent youths (last night they threw a firework at our back window that landed on the kids trampoline and no I didn't have the noise on, I was just getting ready to go out).

But the real reason for the website is so that KIDS CAN RECEIVE TEXTS AND MOBILE PHONE CALLS IN CLASS!!

Yes, and kids can buy Ipods etc and use them, they also damage their ears at the volumes they are used at.

However, after last night I may just pay out the £500 and get the bloody great box on the outside of the house and see whether that really does work. Or maybe I will look at getting a tazar gun, that sounds like fun

Maybe you agree with hand amputation for thieves?

I don't advocate violence either. But If Fledermaus choose's to sit there whilst thugs smash his windows because he "Doesn't do violence" That's his choice!

But don't take the moral highground when others choose to act differently. That's "my" choice! ;)

I don't think it's moral highground, I think its basic civilised behaviour. Most people learn as children not to respond to violence with violence. Some don't and thats why we have laws in society to prevent mob rule and anarchy; which you are advocating with your support for violent response, tasers, MI6, which I presume is a weapon, and of course causing partial disability by damaging hearing.

I chose to sit there because it would not have helped to do anything else.

I am not in lala land at all, but I would rather be there than in your world.

FWIW I reckon Belfast has improved a bit since 1998 we've wised up a little over the last ten years.

Guilty of sloth there. I just wanted to show that the murder rates in Canadian cities are about twice those of UK cities, I think the rate for the country as a whole was 2.7 times more for Canada last time I found two reasonably equivalent sources.

Oh for goodness sake! Anybody can find attention grabbing headlines like that from any country in the world, it still doesn't mean that all of it is overrun with criminals and yobs and that there aren't plenty of old fashioned nice areas left.

Still, just as well Canada's not got headlines like that, isn't it.................oh wait...........

You do know that they have murders and knives/guns in Canada right?!? And that per capita there are more murders in Canada than in the UK? http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cr...ers-per-capita

I do. They won't do it again after their second offence, and the deterrent value would be enormous once criminals actually saw it happening.

Of course there's the human rights people to whine about criminal's rights, but what about the rights of law-abiding citizens.

An excellent link. On a per capita basis there were slightly more murders in Canada as compared to the UK but the excess is extremely slight.

How do one-handed people make a living now? Perhaps the criminal ones could become test subjects for products that groups like PETA don't want tested on animals. ;) :p

Will they turn into PETC then?

So what on earth was your point then? You posted links about murders asking those of us that don't recognise the UK from the crime/yob descriptions on here if we 'recognise it now?' after reading your links. That therefore implies you are saying it's all of the UK and that we should instantly 'recognise it now' after reading those articles.

Frankly, my answer is still a resounding 'no'. Of course I don't recognise it as none of those things have ever come close to affecting my life so I still stand by my point that there are plenty of nice areas left in the UK and that where I live bears no resemblance to the links you posted.

So I've obviously completely missed your point, can you please explain it? What was the point of giving us those links and asking if we 'recognised it now'?? What were you trying to say?
