Would you advocate something that caused the kids to need reading glasses at that age, maybe caused macular degeneration at an early age. What about some early arthritis or artery clogging?
Maybe you agree with hand amputation for thieves? I am not in lala land at all, but I would rather be there than in your world. Thugs are throwing bricks through your windows, there's a threat to your family and this is your response!! "I chose to sit there because it would not have helped to do anything else." Thank god you wasn't around in world war 2, as with that attitude, we'd have speaking German for sure! As for my world, Well I can assure you it's a very nice one thank you very much. I too like Chritmasoompa have witnessed nothing like what Tiny decribes in our tiny shakesperian village! However doesn't mean I walk around with eyes closed as to what's happening in the rest of the UK! |

BTW you automatically lose any argument if you feel you need to invoke the Nazis to defend your actions. |

Re: Tonight
Local variations of Godwin's law
In some countries such as Poland, due to Nazi crimes against ethnic Poles which caused the death of over 2 million Polish citizens, actual comparison of someone to Hitler or Nazi is very rare during an online discussion. Using a "nazi analogy" is not only considered to be an inadequate hyperbole, it is also considered to be a sign of one's total lack of historic knowledge. Instead, in democratic countries severely affected by Nazi war crimes, as an internet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving the Soviet Union or Stalin approaches one. In Scotland, where there is much debate on the country's constitutional future, it has been suggested that the law be extended to references to the Mel Gibson movie Braveheart. <from wiki> I suggest a new local variant for the UK as a whole. You've lost your argument as soon as you refer to yob culture and/or hoodies in the same post as the country and dogs. |

Please lighten up, you really are overreacting and making for further argument. I did say in the first post. If you choose to sit there, that is your right. Just because I, and a few others maybe choose to react differently doesn't make you way right, and my way wrong - just because you don't agree! It's just a different response to the situation, that's all. Look, if I've offended you in anyway, then I do apologize.. Y |

Re: Tonight
yogi .. if someone threw a brick through my window I would be tempted to go out and fight back. It might cost me my life, put me on life support, or in wheelchair permanently. Let the cops do what they are paid to do even if their hands are tied.

The "overreaction" and "oversensitive" comments on an argument are used by the bullies who want to trivialise the other person and their arguments, trying to make their point seem reasonable. I wish you would think about the effect of this noise on hearing. It's not an over reaction to be alarmed at causing harm. I know only too well how shitty life is when you have high frequency hearing loss. I accept your apology. |

As to speaking German, it is a beautiful language. I was taught it as a child. If our troops would've have taken Fleds approach, the Germans would've have won, and we'd have been speaking German! The really has been taken out of context. I know German is a beautiful language, & Godwin's law means the debate is lost if you use it in the terms of stating "Nazi's" not that I would do that as I know it brings back terrible memories for some, hence I used the word German! As you say, you could go out and face the music, who knows what would happen? But there's more than one way to skin a cat ;) Like I say, we all have a different approach to various situations, I'm not saying mine's the way forward or the best - just different! |

Just for the record, I've never been called a bully before so I'll take that as a one off given your reaction to this post, as it's now more clear. When this was in full swing about the noise box for retailers, maybe you should've highlighted the fact regarding your hearing. Even though, I doubt our Government would resort to damage as you describe regardless of the thugs foul play. |
