My local Couche Tard (convenience store) grinds mine. I can go in there mid-morning or early afternoon and I will have the pick of five staff to serve me. Go in there at about five, when people are dropping in on their way home from work, and there will be one staff member and a huge line-up. These cretins must know when their busy times are. Why don't they roster their staff accordingly?

A stereotypical ****wit that is very common in these parts. Grind my gears? Oh not so you'd notice...
Oh yes. Seen that all the time in Calgary.

I know back home in the UK when I worked in a convenience store it was the "middle aged women with kids syndrome". They could only work from 9:30 (so they could deposit children at school) until 2 or 3 and then all buggered off to collect them again. So when it got busy at say 5pm there were actually less staff than at 11am when the place was empty. Usually people with more flexibility (no set shifts for the likes of me) or students.

People who start a thread with a link and don't provide any insight or opinion.

And, people who believe in a god.

What's it with all the adults doing paper rounds out here? There're a few doing it around this way and we used to see quite a few at it (some in cars!?) when we lived in Edmonton... Does it pay significantly more here than the three quid I used to get for dragging my arse out of bed at five thirty, six mornings a week back in the 80s?

My paper round used to grind my gears.

Damn, I could have bought a lot more LPs, Golden Virginia and cider back in the day for that.
