They say this is the new thing...food porn, where we were our favourite restaurant had it happening all the time...Le Moulin de Quatre Saison in La Flèche, since I've arrived here, our 'best' restaurant has 'up market pub grub' that I can cook far better, at quarter the price....Jesus, if I ever see a plate of food that looks winningly edible here I'll probably get my camera out too...if the bleeding sun ever arrives I shall be tossing all my layers of undies off, and getting my bits out, just like the see through young dollies I was quite so disparaging of last year. Dear heaven my gears are grinding

@MillieF

You know, I think you could write a 'best seller' diary sort of thing that could be adapted for TV or radio.

It's been a while since someone did one.

You could call it A Year in (this) Province.

How kind you are! I just have a bit of a passion for good grub...and god help us, some good conversation (radio 4' of course) I don't want to 'do' anything....I just want to live a full and non apethetic life...with good food!

It's bang, smack, centre, in the most beautiful of buildings on the bridge in La Fleche opposite the Mairie. Camille and Caroline who run it are friends, and if you are ever passing go in and enjoy the most wonderful food...and apparently choccie puds...I'm not into them, but they always have good cheese. Please go, please enjoy, and please take photos....and kidnap the owners so I can think of something to do with the rest of my worthless life in NB

We had Saturday lunch there about 7 or 8 years ago en route from Normandie to, IIRC, Charente-Maritime. We had no time pressure so avoided the autoroutes as much as possible and happened to be in La Flèche that day.

Where did you live? (postcode suffices).

Cre sur Loir...7 Kim's from there. One of the most beautiful villages in the area. I was in the middle of the village going down to the river in the old forge. Was, is, and wii always be, one of two of the Most beautiful homes in the village. I still have a big chunk of land just up the road, that has a super view across the area. I too love the Ille de Re....actually all of that area is quite magical....

It quite grinds my gears when I realise that I now live somewhere that nobody could really care about, and that with "just a bit" of love and attention, it could all become sooooo much better. Why do we just sit here and gulp apathy??...I'm talking about Canada...

L'Isle de Ré is very nice, but that bridge freaks me out. I'm quite happy just to stay in La Rochelle when in the area.

Not just the posh restaurants either - back in January in Cuba every meal we had there were always people taking pictures of their meals , bit strange considering the food is pretty much the shits in Cuba and a bit sad that people would take pictures of crap food so they could go home and show their mates how shit their holiday was

I've heard that Cuba is getting expensive now because the Germans are muscling-in and driving out the cheapskate Canadians. Dunno if it's true.

Cameras on phones worst invention ever, makes people do strange things like taking pictures of food, random strangers and the like..odd behavior indeed.

Customers grind my gears, been in customer service far too long.

I heard the same thing but didn't see or hear any Germans in or around Cayo Santa Maria when we were there - Possible that they may take over at other times of the year
