We're going to have baked salmon and salad as HID read something on the internet about killer sausages and bacon. :(

It was more like my nan's but aside, apart from liver, I quite liked school dinners.

Nothing wrong with bananas and custard.

I never really had school dinners. Usually we'd nip down the chippy and have battered sausage and chips. Or maybe onion rings if we had an extra 10p

What did you do at primary school, take a packed lunch? We used sit on long benches with big tables and invariably with the elbow shoving one of the jugs of water would go flying. We'd also throw a bit of carrot or cabbage on the floor and bet how many times a certain dinner lady would tread on it. :)

I think I had school dinners occasionly. But mostly I had a pack lunches. Crisps, a supermarket version of a club biscuit and a cheaply filled sandwich.

The only time I got a packed lunch was for a school outing. My nan would go over the top and pack enough food for about five kids. And, given the unfathomable depths of creativity of our teachers we always seemed to go to Whipsnade Zoo so I'd end up feeding the animals most of my lunch so she wouldn't be pissed off that I'd come home with lots of food.

That's tantamount to child abuse...Did you ever consider writing to Esther Rantzen about it?
