Blown but probably not fecked. Currently only (only mind) a wind warning with a mere 5-10cm of snow expected before it turns to rain/freezing rain/ice pellets/all of the above. I expect it to be an extremely messy Monday.

Apropos to winter storms here it's all about whether the depression moves to the East or West of us. If the former then we're in for a 'Nor-easter' with beaucoup snow and cold winds from the North/North East. If the latter then wind and rain cos the winds come from the South West. I actually prefer the Nor'easters as they are easier to deal with being all snow. The snow/rain/ice/concrete mix is less fun to deal with.

As for Mary Walsh, she was specifically looking for naked Newfies. Not being a native Newfie I felt I could pass on getting Naked. Also, it was colder than a well diggers arse here yesterday and I'm not bloody stupid!

It's a bit windy and snowy now. I looked out and saw a truck in the drive, a new F350. It was a snowplough driver "I'm on the way to the city" (I assumed Toronto but, I suppose, he could have meant NYC) "but I can't see a thing so I've pulled in here". I suppose if he's still there at lunchtime he'll get salmon.

Well in downtown Toronto visibility is pretty lousy and I can hardly see the ground from up here, but when I can it's barely snowed the last 24 hours despite all the predictions for 10+ cm by now. It is now snowing heavily with heavy winds, but there is no way we're getting the dreadful conditions the newscasters have been talking about the last 3 days. It's hard to tell because it's drifting and there are loads of non-snow areas where it just gets blown off, but I'd say around 2 cm.

Good the morrow, fellow survivors.

Not much here either, maybe 3 inches but blowy, so hard to say. Still, I'm glad it's Sunday...I wouldn't fancy driving just at the moment.

And it's coming down steadily as I type so I don't think we should be too complacent yet. I expect to be near-crippled soon after lunch.

I am not so decadent as to imbibe my Chateau Neuf du Pape from fashion boots. Whatever the size.

Coming down steadily here (Bayview/Eglinton) as it has been since I got up at 8 this morning and there's loads more snow than last night when I went to bed.

The sidewalk was cleared at 8am and in the last 2.5 hours at least 5cm /2 inches has fallen.

Glad I don't have to go out - but then I have snow tires on the FWD VW Cabriolet so I can go anywhere, no?

This is very exciting! I know this is my first big storm and the novelty might wear off soon enough, but for now I'm practicing positive immigration techniques and loving it all.....

Ok it's actually thundering and lightning here as well. This is really weird.

Like Rob I too am using positive thinking. We stocked up at the supermarket yesterday so all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the show!!

I'm currently at the window watching cars getting stuck oin the slip off of lakeshore to spadina and doggies bouncing up and down on the dog run . There's one in particular we see everytime it snows .\ Its a tiny white thing and usually all you see are the brown ears jumping up and down.

This is fun , but of course we don't have any shovelling to do!!!!!

I knew I should have locked the door

Well I have just got in, left at 10 to 9, cleared the snow plastered to the left side of the car, fell in a snow heap, pah. Got in car and off. Roads not bad, blowing snow a problem and then worse wet stuff near Peterborough. I stopped to offer the little old lady who lives down our street a lift, she declined as she didnt have far to go! Hardy woman, covered in snow, carrying shopping

Journey normally takes 45 to 50 minutes so it was slow. PLenty of Canadians driving up me arse and or overtaking and thats on the 7 when I was driving at 60

Home just in time really, its heavy now. going to have coffee and then hot bath and tidy up for visitor!

You could go anywhere the roads are paved without the snow tyres, with them you should be able to drive across fields.

Erm, well slight problem - I don't have snow shoes, so can't get to the the garage!

However when the snow freezes I can go out on the ice as at 9am Canada Post delivered my Shopping Channel 2 for 1 bargain purchase of YakTrax!
I was rather surprised by the mail man's knock.
Wouldn't get our UK postie out in -6C snow storm conditions in the UK!!!
