So when Armageddon arrives in the form of a snowstorm do the buses run?? Is my mate going to be able to get from Oddowaa to Pbro?? And if she does, should we be out in it waiting for the bus to arrive??
Will I get home tomorrow?? Should I ask one of the four horsemen for a lift home??

Edit: Just been out for a smoke again. Still nothing much here.
Hang on I'll check the radar...

It would be a shame not to be able to meet with an old workmate from the UK, so much gossip to hear, so much gin to be drunk

Well in the short term (radar range) both TO and Peterborough are still in a high pressure ridge...the problem is that we have warm fronts converging from the SW and the NW: when these meet (in about 2 hours I guess) the horsemen might have trouble getting through to you batty.

When I took a bus from Ottawa to Toronto it followed Highway 7 until it got near Tweed. Just before Tweed it stopped at a coffee/snack place where that bus would meet up with the Peterborough bus. The Peterborough/Ottawa route is all Hwy 7.

If it's any comfort, I think most of the direst predictions are wrong...it's the Atlantic Provinces and of course the home of AX, our illustrious thread starter who are going to get truly f***ed over the weekend.

I thought so too. Well let's wait and see...I'm following batty into the sack (if you see what I mean).

This chap's Canadian weather blog http://www.accuweather.com/news-blog...&blog=anderson is calling for much snow for SW Ontario.
Presumably this will have the following consequences:
Happy Shovelling!

Presumably this will have the following consequences:
- It will be a snowing in Richmond Hill
- dbd33 or more likely YAL will get to play with the snowremoval equipment again.
- 25cm+ in TO will cause general chaos and consternation
- Souv's winter snowfall prediction for Ottawa starts to look a little more shaky

We'll see. The snowfall patterns for Nov/Dec and the rest of the winter show a weak negative correlation. The analysis is a bit skewed by a few very bad winters but, crudely put, if it snows like buggery before Christmas, it probably won't continue to snow like buggery in the New Year. Over the last 3 decades, the heaviest Jan-April snow has very often followed average or below average snowfall in Nov-Dec.
I am currently predicting 150cm for Nov/Dec and a total of 270cm. Pre-New Year snowfall has only topped 100cm 3 times since 1980 and the total winter snowfall ended up at 260-280cm.
If we match the winter of 1992/93 (344cm), I'll be amazed.

My advice is to rush to your local Canadian Tire store and fit out the family, cheaply and quickly. After settling in look for some others if those are a problem.

Bit of snow here this morning, not even a half-inch but it's drifted and will want clearing when it stops.
