Re: St George's flag, denied!!!
i always thought we where the United Kingdom.
so whats wrong with flying the Union Jack, which is specfically British? (wiki) where as St George's Cross (or the Cross of St George) is a red cross on a white background used as a symbolic reference to Saint George. The red cross on white was associated with St George from medieval times. St George's Cross has been adopted on the coat of arms and flags of several countries and cities which have St George as a patron saint, notably England, Georgia, Aragon, Greece, Genoa and Barcelona. The cross is also found, for various reasons, on the provincial flag of Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel as well as the municipal flag for numerous cities, including Montreal, AlmerÃa, Milan, Genoa, Padua, Zadar and Freiburg im Breisgau. It is also the basis for the Four Moors flag of Sardinia. Guernsey was permitted to use it as its state flag between 1936 and 1985. Historically, the cross appeared on many now extinct flags, emblems and coats of arms, such as that of the Swabian League in late Medieval Germany. think about it ! |
Re: St George's flag, denied!!!
also noted, that Georgie boy himself wasnt even english, being middle eastern
again from wiki: It is likely that Saint George was born to a Christian noble family in Lydda, Palestine during the late third century between about 275 AD and 285 AD, and he died in Nicomedia. His father, Gerontius, was a Roman army official from Cappadocia and his mother was from Palestine. so the patron saint of good ole' blighty is a mixed race/ Arab.... cat amongst the pidgeoons bye .......... |

. The word on the street is that some locals somewhere aren't pleased with them swamping our shores and having their flags waved from our pubs and our car windows. No wonder the councils are fighting to get our traditions and heritage back on track. . |
Re: St George's flag, denied!!!

Re: St George's flag, denied!!!
I knew some Polish bird, 17 she was, fresh from the euro tunnel with her 3 kids she caught the train to Croydon to visit the Home Office. By 4pm she was in a luxurious council flat is west London and 500 quid to buy the kids some clothes.
In the house next door lived an English couple, he lost his job and couldn't get any benefits. Bloody immigrants, they take our benefits, our jobs and we cannot even fly the flag. How many times have we heard that story? |

So at what point upon becoming a citizen of your new country do you stop calling yourself an 'immigrant'?
Not something that comes everyday though so it's not really an issue it's just a simple fact.:) |

You don't. Even though you become a naturalized Canadian (citizen) you will always be an immigrant.

Re: St George's flag, denied!!!
I don't think Britons make very good immigrants.
Historically, we've only gone to other places to take them over. Some of the posher lads got pith helmets and big ledger books to count the natives and give them solid names like Thomas or Emily, while the lads from the poor areas got given a tin helmet and a gun, and instructions to kill any Germans or troublesome darkies that they came across. We never really went anywhere with an open mind. |

I wasn't aware that I needed hard evidence to back up what I was saying, forgive me I thought I was posting on a public forum not going to court!!!! QUOTE] I feel the same way about this forum which is why i rarely post anymore. There are too many lawyers - if each word is not accurate or correct the response is quite aggressive. This is a public discussion forum - i put forward my views/points/heresay and if it is not correct or agreed with then someone should respond with their view its called discussion/conversation all to often the response is: that is bollocks, your evidence is crap, why is your link 2 years out of date just because you dont agree doesnt mean you have licence to provide an aggressive response or verbal attack. everyone has different experiences of the uk and canada no one person is right or wrong Next time i post i will treat it as a legal document and make sure every word/phrase is accurate clear not open to subjectivity and will try to find up to date evidence to back up my personal views. |
