Default Re: Soup

I'm all over the place when it comes to soup. The only tinned soup I eat is Heinz cream of tomato.

Home made, my favourites are chicken (from the carcass) with a few veggies, onion, either heartily thick or very simple French style, and a thin Tarka Dhal - which may or may not be similar to sos's curried lentils.

I must have a try at stilton and ??? though.

Ice Cream are the words you're looking for I think.

Baxter's Spicy Lentil Dahl is a current favourite. I don't mind canned soups, especially Heinz Tomato which is better than any homemade tomato soup I've had the misfortune to try.

Ha, ha, nice try

The ??? was because I'm not overly-keen on celery or watercress.

So everyone likes Heinz Cream of Tomato but not Campbell's version.

1) In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in olive oil until translucent. Stir in broccoli and potatoes and cook until vegetables begin to release their moisture. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in cheese until melted.
2) Puree soup in a blender or food processor or with an immersion blender.
Is the last bit essential?

Gearing up for some tests so tomorrow I'll be making turkey soup with the carrots and broccoli, celery and plum tomatoes from the veggie platter, then pouring it through a strainer and discarding all the solids, and then drinking the broth. Mmmmmmmmm.

Rich just wants to justify spending over £450 on a blender.
