Some updates.
The good:
I got a job and have been working for 3 weeks now. We found an apartment in Vancouver and are now mostly living in Vancouver, although some of our stuff is still in Chilliwack waiting to be moved. I have an appointment at the end of the month for a borderline study for an assessment, if I qualify for study I would get either 6 months or 12 months of DBT and individual therapy as part of the study. The bad: Wife went manic last week, and was hospitalized for 5 days, she was released 2 days ago, but isn't back to normal, and can't be left alone for long periods of time which is a dilemma for me since I work 5 days a week, and up at 2am to leave for work at 3am. I am doing okay, but it's a lot of work trying to juggle everything and care for another person, work, and try and plan a move all at the same time, and try and pass a airport driving test tomorrow which requires memorizing a map of the airport taxiways, roads, etc, which I haven't even had a chance to study for. |

Re: Some updates.
Great new JS! Whereabouts in Vancouver will you end up? Congrats on the new job too! I hope your wife is recovering and that you can get someone to look after her while you establish yourself in your new role.

Re: Some updates.
As above, and hoping you get through the tough bits with a minimum of grief.

Re: Some updates.
I don't normally do good vibes but good vibes to you and Mrs JS.
There's a cricket field in East Van.... Memorial Park South. |
Re: Some updates.
Lots of good cyber vibes heading your way J and Mrs J from Toronto.
|
Re: Some updates.
Thanks. It's just been very stressful and still is, hard to juggle everything but I am doing the best I can.

Best wishes to you both Jsmith321..x

Re: Some updates.
Hang on in there JS! Great news about the job and the study. Hope Mrs JS is doing okay and that you can both cope with everything that's happened at once!

Re: Some updates.
Pleased to hear the good news, sorry about the bad bit but hopefully everyday gets a little better. I see you're back in the industry you know and like! I do have to say that you are an inspiration to others who suffer from similar health problems and have shown that perseverance does pay off! Well done, and best wishes for the future. Please keep us updated - BE folks are all on your side.

Re: Some updates.
I too am firmly with all of us in the "congratulations" front, and very sorry for the bad bits:thumbdown:
It has occurred to me that since I've lived here, I 'never' get a good bit of news, unless a bad bit has followed. I certainly hope you two buck the trend  very best of luck. |
Re: Some updates.
So happy to hear the 'good news' part JS (though you did give me an inkling before) - and an airport job too - your favourite!
I expect the stress of moving has been enormous and I'm so sorry to hear that the Mrs has had a turn for the worse. Fingers crossed that she continues to recover... Big pat on the back for you too - you got a job, a new apartment, moved AND are taking good care of your wife - that's quite some achievement! Stay strong.. you're doing an awesome job my friend. :) |
Re: Some updates.
Sounds like you're being positive and active which is a good space to be. Go forth and conquer!
|
Re: Some updates.
Really good news about the job and I'm sure you'll have no problem with the test. Huge sympathies 're your wife but fingers crossed she keeps improving and you're able to either find someone to be with her or she improves enough that you are comfortable leaving her. :fingerscrossed:

Re: Some updates.

I'm sorry about your wife but the fact that you are able to cope and be there for her speaks volumes to your own strength |
Re: Some updates.
Keep taking a deep breath and you will get through it and out the other side. Congrats for the job.

Re: Some updates.
Luckily the company has been understanding. I've only missed 2 days, and I am doing my best to not miss any shifts, but things are not predictable at the moment but all I can do is my best.

Re: Some updates.
I was just thinking that we hadn't heard from you for a while. I'm really pleased you got a new job that you're going to enjoy. Being satisfied at work goes a very long way toward making your life easier.
Sorry to hear that your lovely wife has not been well. I do hope that she's back to better health soon. |
Re: Some updates.
Ahhhh fantastic that you have another job, and in your preferred field! That is really great.
I echo what everyone else has said about your inner strength, being able to juggle all that is really a testament. We are all rooting for you, please keep us updated on your progress! :) |

Re: Some updates.
I do hope your wife feels more even very soon Jsmth321. Very tough that she's had this episode right now.
I am beyond pleased for you on the move and job front. Despite all, your strength & determination has carried you through. You're amazing and so is your wife. |
Re: Some updates.
JS you're showing how strong you can be!
Congrats on everything. We're all routing for you and I think I can safely say we genuinely care. We're a bunch of Brits that have become your Canadian family Take care and please keep us updated. I made sure 2017 was going to be my year to turn the negatives in to positives. Sounds like you're doing the same Sending hugs from Ontario. |
Re: Some updates.
Thanks all. For the most part the job has been not bad. All but 1 person have been pleasant to work with.
I am 2nd oldest in the employee group, others are all 18 to 23 age range. Aside from that one person who was in diapers when I started ramp work in 1998, its been good. Doing a lot better then I thought I would getting up at 230am...lol Wife is doing better but not 100 percent yet. Still playing referee of sorts as well. Lol But its getting better each day so nothing to worry about at this point and things are looking fairly good at the moment. Next week I should know if I am accepted into the DBT/ borderline study at a university. |

Please do post an update once you hear! :)
So few resources available for borderline, even the mental health intake nurse I spoke to last week was frustrated that they have so little to offer borderline folks in terms of services, so this sort of study could be life altering if I can get accepted. |
Re: Some updates.
I am so excited for you .
It's getting there. |

Re: Some updates.
Hardest part of everything is getting to sleep by 630pm and its not easy considering its still light out. Ha ha.. But oddly getting up at 2am isn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Yuck that's a tough shift. When hubby starts earlies he's in bed at 8:30 and up at 3:15. That's bad enough. But you're a trooper. Well done again ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

Re: Some updates.
Hey J - just stumbled across your news. Congratulations on the employment. Last I read you were going for the interview. So pleased for you that it worked out and just think, your new apartment might not as cold as the last one next winter. Sending good thoughts and vibes your way for you and the missus.
