The fashion industry does have a lot to answer for. The ideal they sell isn't available to anyone, even skinny women cannot compete with photo-shop.

Fashion people disgust me; they think they are doing something important and creative, when in reality they are there to create a lifestyle image so that the companies that own the fashion houses can flog more perfume and handbags to idiots. Vacuous wastes of space, the lot of them.

...I just can't see how biffers O.D.ing on pizza and pop can be the fault of folks who make frocks and handbags.

I just can't see what any of what your talking about has to do with a thread about Slimming World. No one cares, what Kate Moss said and whether anyone does or doesnt agree with it.

...I'm just curious that so much fuss is made over peoples weight. The fact that there's such a thing as a dieting/slimming industry is nuts - seriously, how hard can it be to keep in shape? Honestly, should anyone really need a consultant to tell them to walk about a bit and not put so many crisps in their mouth?

....I totally agree, and if my "walking about a bit and eating less crisps" diet plan is of any use to you, please feel free to try it. - free of charge.

The slimming world team are pretty quick at answering queries re: food items if I email them too.

Most of the free food stuff is cook from scratch type items anyway, as it is one of the diets that tries to deter from processed foods.

Fingers crossed they do well in Texas and start branching out further a field.
How is the online slimming world getting along? I am desperate, I have put nearly 2 stone on in 2 years, I do miss quorn you can have in the UK, but do the online consultant work out syn values of branded stuff here in Canada?

Kate Moss does make me feel fat, but she doesn't make feel ugly too. I think the waif models do cheat the public a bit.

They have a US/Canada list on the online bodyoptimise part of slimming world. Which gives a basic free foods list, healthy extras list and then syns list.

Then they have a syns calculator, where you can select your free foods from the list and then input the nutritional information and it will tell you if the food is free or synned and how many syns.

There is also a facebook slimming world group which is great for helping to stay on track.

No, I think such guides are limited to Slimming World et al. How hard can it be to work out that, to lose weight, one needs to ingest less calories per day than one one uses in a day?

Do men join such clubs?

I joined Weight Watchers in the late 80s. I've never eaten so much in my life. The weight fell off me.

Not only are they fat, they're a bit thick and lazy

That said, i guess Slimming World and other such offerings are not dissimilar to Alcoholics Anonymous in a way that they provide group structure and support for addicts.

Poor buggers

Have you thought about Nutrisystem - I have lost half a stone in 3 weeks and still going. And there are no points, sins or counting so it is really easy.
