Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Do you have any evacuation plan for if a big one does hit? People in disaster-prone areas often keep a "bug out bag" with essentials that they can grab on the way out if they have to leave in a hurry; contents vary. The same way fire drill instructions have assembly areas, you and Mrs Jsmith should have a meeting place arranged in case of emergency, should you get separated.
1- Someone is home when the quakes hit and can grab it.
2- If nobody is home the building isn't damaged and still allowed in.
Biggest concern is how well this 4 story, with underground parking will survive in a big quake, we are currently in a newer build so hopefully built to better standards but I would not want to be in any of those old concrete or brick buildings downtown/other areas they will not fare well. We looked at an apartment in a high rise built in 1972, and all I could think about way, would this building handle a big quake, older buildings just wont be built to the same level as newer buildings, a lot has been learned in the last 50 years about building for earthquakes.

I came to Canada with 3 cats and 1 dog...and I’ve just lost the last of the cats...he was 16, and had had a few problems, but I feel like rubbish...but it was better for the cat. I’m also a bit worried about the dog...he’s always had a dog bossing him around...so have I

Sometimes I wonder the questions people ask on reddit are legit or just trolling.
How can someone possibly not know that they can go to a bank and get rolls of coins.
its too bad apartments are so small, hard to have personal space and quiet and always on edge, sometimes i just want a room i can go to for quiet and peace.

Agreed. The Ottawa subreddit is full of people asking questions that could be answered in 30 seconds via a google search or gasp, what were they thinking, an actual phone call. Examples such as on a Sunday if a certain store is open or not or where can you buy soccer equipment in a certain part of Ottawa. The mind boggles at how helpless some people are.
