Sounds like she was visiting, kept saying her doctor back in her home country would never charge her and that she has traveled the world and never had to pay upfront and how her trip was ruined, over a $160 charge.

What a barm pot. Asia, Europe, US - I've ALWAYS had to pay medical charges up front and claim from my travel insurance once I return home. If her trip was 'ruined' because of a $160 charge, she should have bloody stayed home.

Before we moved here I was in hospital for almost a week. A guy came to escort hubby down to the office to pay before they would discharge me. I don’t know what would have happened if we had not been able to pay and walked out. I was a little surprised as the bill was about the same as when I was in hospital in the US for the same condition. For some reason I thought US healthcare would cost much more than Canadian.

The going rate to walk into a BC ER before any treatment seems to be in the $700+ range, then have to add on any costs from doctors who treated you, lab, x-ray, etc and it can really add up quickly especially if admitted if not covered by MSP.

Went grocery shopping today put everything away, and realized just now the fridge has broke at some point today, pushing 50 degrees F and set for 37F.
They put these stupid German fridges in and they are pure crap.
Gonna lose all the food though which sucks ass.

Buy ice if you can. Shove it in the fridge and keep the door shut. I do realise you have to open the door to get things out but what I mean is be sparing with open/shut door.

Seems to be kind of working, just not keeping cold enough, fluctuating between 47F and 53F where it's set at 37F, but either way 47F-53F is too warm so clearly something wrong.

I was able to get most of the stuff into the deep freeze, the milk, cheese and some sort of dip is a loss, but only about $25 worth so not horrible thankfully we had the deep freeze.

Not the best area for a tourist hotel, seems hotel owners are seeing it affect their business now.

Can you cook some of the raw food? It might keep better.
Do you have any spare blankets ................ if you have, wrap them around the fridge to add extra insulation.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Its just the cheese and milk that ended up as casualties, I managed to cram everything else into the deep freeze we have.
It's a built in fridge so sits into the wall or however built in's work, so can't wrap anything around it. Thankfully we had the deep freeze up and running.
Pretty much everyone has issues with the fridge in this building, apparently they were not installed correctly according to some of the owners of units who have had theirs replaced.
Built in similiar to this.

I couldn't believe the size of UK seagulls when I first saw them, in fact I had to ask my husband what sort of bird they are. Aussie ones are very scrawny in comparison.
