.......... I don't like very spicy food either, but the nice thing about tacos is that you can add your own fixings.

I have very fond memories of the excellent (in my mind!) tacos from a stall in El Mercado in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is my favourite place in the US, and luckily we have a friend who lives there so we've been able to visit about 3 times between about 1993 and 2004.


Strangely enough there was a very good Mexican restaurant in 100 Mile House, BC. I loved their tortillas, the meat and veggie fillings came sizzling hot on a metal dish and the tortillas were good.

The restaurant is still there, so I'm hoping they still offer the Mexican menu!

Flour tortillas are soft and generally used to wrap food in and create say a burrito.

Corn tortillas are not as soft, and when deep fried get relatively crunchy and are good for tacos for example.

As long as you put nothing spicy in them tacos and burritos are not going to be spicy, rolled tacos the same.

Our cell phone went down today, seems Rogers and others had some network issues.

It's times when the cell goes down I am glad we pay the $10/month for the landline.

I dunno what a burrito is really either. I think I prefer the idea of wraps rather than crunchy.

A burrito is other food wrapped in a soft tortilla, both ends wrapped so its like a food blanket of sorts.

Can put almost anything in it, sometimes just beans and cheese, sometimes chicken/beef, rice, cheese, sour cream.

I heard last year that Emergency Services prefer landlines ............. if you call in and cannot complete the call to give your location, they can pinpoint where you are with a landline and send emergency vehicles to you.

They apparently have much more difficulty pinpointing where a call has come from if you use a cell phone.

Yup. Also better for natural disaster events. Very sensible.

What with our AC cutting out Friday and continuously ever since and the 2 hour power outage yesterday afternoon I reckon

My kid is stressing me out, she gets so stroppy when I try to talk to her about what she's upto, when I ask why she is moving so far away from where she is going to school and all that stuff, she seemes to go off on half baked ideas with no real research, then as I don't want to stress her I look into things (it's what I do when I'm bored in front of the tv) and find info that may or may not be right - seeing as I don't really know Ontario very well. I asked her what sort of cost with the bus be (going to school), I got a I dunno I haven't looked, well I looked last night for a rough estimate, $17+ each way with student discount, I hope I've got it wrong. I've sent her a message (she works nights at the moment) please look up costs of busses before you move.

Right now they have one car (his), they are moving from Burlington to Guelph (or that was the last info I had) He works in Guelph. She works two jobs in Burlington and will be going to school at I believe Sheridan ( i just picked that info up in light conversation) and it planning on bussing, she has already said she will have to find new jobs. I can't see where any of this is making sense. I'm trying not to interfere as they are adults but it's just doing my head in.

She'll need a little car then, and she'll have to add to expenses the cost of parking.

I think all we parents can do is to hope/trust/presume that what we've taught our children up until they leave home, stays with them after they've left home. What if he/she emigrates, as you (PP) did? We're in that situation ourselves, and we just have to be thankful that we're on wonderfully friendly terms with our son and his children. That's the truly important thing, which not every family is lucky enough to experience.
