Excluding the house I grew up in, I have never lived in any place longer then 2 years. Our current place is almost 2 so it will exceed 2 years soon.

Renting tends to be unstable these days. One rent increase can mean needing to find a new place or the unit is sold.

I'd move. Just like changing cars when the ashtray is full.

I enjoy DIY, get a great feeling of satisfaction when I achieve something...
What's your hourly rate? ;)

Moving wasn't an option at that time - it was when the housing market went through an upsurge - you would see a place at 2pm and by 5pm it had been sold (subject to contract but there'd be 3 other offers waiting) - or you would get gazumped (happened a couple of times).. and prices were going through the roof.. so it was buy what I could afford, even if it meant doing lots of work. :)

I was fortunate to have moved into an apartment which was only one bedroom but 1,000 sq. ft. in 1976. It was a ground level apartment in a six story building. Prime location for traveling to NYC by train. Good schools for the girls. The girls got the bedroom and the extra large foyer which was 9' by 12' became my bedroom with a day bed and was set up like a small sitting room before opening up to a living room which was 9' by 18' with a dining room off of that.

It was a rent stabilized apartment so the rent could not be increased above the mandated NYS rent control percentage. Moved in at $263 per month in 1976 and when I moved out it was just under $700 a month and that included my parking space and my gas for the stove.

An apartment that size might be.more doable. Ours is around 548sq feet. Even the 2 bedrooms are only 710sq feet. The one before this was 410sq feet.

Its the small cramped space that annoys me.

We have some rent control but unless you started renting 20 or 25 years ago and never moved, its not of much benefit as once a tenant moves the rent goes to market rate for the new tenent.

This year the rent can go up I think 2% or 2.5% for existing rentals.

New tenancies for our size unit are almost 2k a month now.

Thanks. I usually do. Its nice going back home. I think I need to find ways to go more often.

Today has been a total waste. Still waiting for the fire alarm people to show up. They were supposed to be here between 9 and 1 and now its 2p and still not even on our floor yet.

American Airlines has a cool routing Palm Springs to Vancouver.

Palm Springs to Dallas Texas to Los Angeles to Vancouver.

Granted most would hate that but id the fare had been lower (it was 333) I would have done it.

Once when I was working at the airline still a couple of us spent a few days just flying so we could fly certain aircraft types. This was early 00s when airlines had variety still.

Went San Diego to LA to Atlanta to Charlotte to Las Vegas to Indianapolis to Memphis to Minneapolis to San Diego.

Once I was bored so went down to the airport took a red eye to NY, ate breakfast went to times square, statute of liberty, empire state building, world trade center had an early dinner took a 6p flight back home.

When I lived in Milwaukee and I once went Chicago to Vegas to Columbus to Chicago.

Oh the good days they were.

I wish I could fly like that still.

Shaw tech was supposed to come today 8 to 10. Never showed. The tech apparently didnt go to work today and also didnt call Shaw to let them know so they did not know to call customers to inform them.

totally get it , we booked our PR flight over on a 777 because they were new to the AC fleet

when i went home in the summer i purposely booked at the 787 because i hadn't been on one before.

now I've done all the 700 series from 737 - 787

I've done all bar 757. Not likely to either living where I do.

On the Airbus side I've flown A319/20/21/330/340. No A350 or 380

Embraer 170/190
MD80/82
BAC111 (back in the day).
BAE146
Fokker F50/100
Dash 8-300 / Q400
Beech 1900 ... thats probably the smallest thing I've ever flown in.

#Avgeek.
Doubtless Aviator will be along in a minute to trump us all!
