I often wonder if my joints are this sore at 39, what will they be like in 10-20 more years.

That probably depends on the reason why they're sore now. Osteoarthritis? Fibromyalgia? Over-use?

All you can do is follow the medical advice you've been given to manage your condition - not much point in worrying about how they'll be in the future, it'll only blight your present :)

I discovered yesterday that younger step-daughter sometimes has a problem with what I believe are known as bell peppers – I just call them peppers.

If she cuts one open and finds baby peppers inside she freaks, and someone else has to get them away before she will resume cooking.

Canada Post delivered my PR card application 1 day early vs their original estimate. I do think they need to change the name of the Xpress Post service, there really is nothing express about it...lol...6 days.

Not a chance though. When I open a tin I meticulously teaspoon the contents into a dish, bit by bit, looking to find it.

Ah! Here is the bean thing. I was looking in the soup place :p

What is fatback?
Why is there fat in bean tins ? Not sure I could cope with that.

Pretty cool time lapse of Amtrak Surfliner between San Diego and Los Angles, the Oceanside stop is the last stop in San Diego, before entering Orange County, and then finally at the end entering Los Angeles County and City.

From googling it looks like it may be a Quebec thing, which would account for my MIL doing it when she makes her own.

Maybe it improves the taste in the cook process because I do like them more than plain beans in tomato sauce. But can't they take it out once cooked?

It's worse than the stuff lining the contents of a pork pie or attached to Pate. Fortunately there's only one piece mostly, sometimes two.

We've always put a few slices of sidepork or bacon on top of the beans before putting the lid on and into the oven.

That gelatin lining a pork pie / pate is very tasty!

Fatback (for beans) is the hard fat (with or without rind) from the back of a pig - and adds flavour without breaking down as soft fat (from the belly) would.

Transit is pricey. I have 5 days week after next when I have to go somewhere daily for 5 days. $66 for just 5 days. (2.95 to get to sky train then 10.25 for a day pass.)

Scooter with gas and insurance was only $70/month......lol

It's brutal! The city and the province and the feds should all subsidise public transit in the interest of urban traffic control and the environment. If they'd just make monthly and annual passes affordable and even let you ride across the system all the time instead of just on weekends it would be fantastic. I think Regina's bus system is expensive and we get a 31 day adult pass for $92. It doesn't seem like much but compared to the travel you can get on Vancouver transit....... Next summer when I'm 65 the $300 annual pass is an option but I'm so used to driving everywhere it would feel weird. I was without a vehicle a few years ago and bought monthly bus passes for about 3 months, and learning to use the smartphone schedule and app was neat. There are gps trackers on the busses here now so you can see where yours is in real time and see how long it will be until it reaches your stop.
