Would be nice is people who become landlords actually followed the law. Trying to get the deposit back from the old apartment, and he has been ignoring us, so now gotta spend time and probably money filing a dispute with RTO people.

Landlord should have returned it by April 15th.

Tenants too, of course.

Deposits are lodged with the rentalsman's office in NB. Both parties have to apply for return/make claim.

Prior to that, it was an exchange of keys for deposit.

Mother in law bought one of these a few days ago - down to $150 in Walmart.

Tiny amount of oil needed.

Surprisingly good results. Obviously not as "good" (unhealthy) as deep fried chips but on a par with what they sometimes call Home Fries here. Carrots came out just like they'd been roasted in the oven and no doubt parsnips will too.

This will be of particular advantage when there's a turkey in the oven and not enough room for the roasted veggies and the sausage-meat stuffing as well.

Looking forward to doing some cauli in it.

In the meantime, the deep fat fryer was given away on kijiji.

It'd be nice to be able to take your dog into a pub here.

This morning I saw the grim reaper.

The next door neighbour has a couple of shrubs, mini trees or whatever they are that he wraps in sacking for winter. I often catch sight of them in the dark and think there's someone standing outside the house.

This morning it was foggy. I opened my front door and leaned out to retrieve the paper from the mailbox.

As I swung back in I immediately leaned back out in a double take.

Next door has a small open porch and looking through it I caught sight of one of these shrub like things all wrapped up. It looked like a cloaked figure.

Next to it was the thin trunk of a tree and halfway up was a branch sticking out and curving downwards above the shrub.

Between the front door and porch columns, the image was 'framed' and with the fog hiding other parts of the tree there was this vision in the fog of a cloaked figure, scythe in hand.

Spoiler:

Just like George Foreman and his grill, looking at your photo just reminded me and I wondered whether Buzz Lightyear had a similar thing, this time Buzz Lightyear and his frier, there definitely seems to be a resemblance I reckon

I've been looking at buying one of them for a while now.

The problem is, I can't get anyone to answer the simple question "Are they really as good as deep fried french fries."

Everybody fudges on the answer.
Less cholesterol /heart smart / cooks other things well / etc etc.

Yes or no to the question please.

Assuming that by "French fries" you mean chips then no, of course not. If you want to make proper chips you need a proper chip pan. If you're worried about burning the house down, a legitimate concern, especially if your chip needs are alcohol or weed fueled, then one of those outdoor turkey fryers from the deep south works well.

It's pointless to pretend that you can make healthy chips by making something else and calling them chips. That's like pretending that operating an automatic car is driving or that vaping is a proper substitute for a Marlboro.
