While I realise you're on a very tight budget, that amount honestly doesn't sound *too* extortionate to me. Locally nurses & hospital workers park up in the free (municipal) parking lot & walk (10 minutes) to the hospital where they would have to pay to park.

Deducted each cheque. Just sucks since I only make like 275 a week on avg.
The lot I use is about 10 min walk to the terminal.
The other lot is further and requires a shuttle if sky train isnt running or a 5 min sky train plus a short walk.
If we made what nurses make I would not mind so much..ha ha
It is what it is.
They also tack on like a 20% parking tax on top of GST...lol

Do you have to pay the whole lot in one go/in advance? Or can you pay weekly/is it deducted at source?

Yes, we had a charge deducted each month from our salary for parking, however even if we hadn't we would have been taxed as it would have been classed as a perk, so the charge was introduced, at least we did have our own car park, as far from work as it was possible to be and still be on the grounds, and it was at the bottom of a fairly steep hill, so impossible to get out of in the early hours in winter until the road had been gritted.

I used to have a compulsory payroll deduction to be able to park on campus, but with no guarantee of a space. In the summer I commuted by motorcycle and used the free bike bays. The payroll deduction still got applied due to 'prior car use'. It was just a money grab.

It's quite interesting reading the "free stuff" section on kijiji - both wanting and offering (so many advertisers don't seem to appreciate the difference
) and reading why people need things or are giving them away.

I wonder if Oink was in the vicinity of this incident and "those horrible little naffers" made him drop his phone into the water..

We were fishing on the SW side of Bowen Island but put our prawn traps on the NW side in Howe Sound. Didn't see any orcas that day but see them often enough to know that when they turn up the fish naff off. The only thing to do is to turn the engines off and watch the display. The phone issue may have had more to do with spending the afternoon in Grandma's Pub in Gibsons.
