I don't know how Boris Johnson and JRM got to where they are, and whether they are deserving of it...there was a certain amount of privilege they were born onto no doubt, however you can't tar all conservatives with that brush....Margaret Thatcher for example came from very humble beginnings as a green grocer's daughter, so that rules out birth privilege in the development of personal political views. The same way Tony Benn was from an aristocratic back ground but was a hard socialist...... politics is as individual as your fingerprints, and is subjective, so its wrong to make an assumption about a person just because of their political views, unless of course they are extreme

The headline is a bit weird but it’s not really racist to talk about where she grew up or where her mum lives. If she had nothing to do with area and they were purely linking it to her because of her ethnicity, THAT would be racist.

The other examples given are someone complimenting her beautiful exotic DNA and princess Michael of Kent wearing a broach that someone somewhere has decided could be considered inappropriate for some reason that’s not explained, and seemingly unbeknownst to her. None of this is racism.

I hate people using it this way and looking for it where it doesn’t exist. Some people suffer true racism hatred and to apply it so loosely to these minor situations cheapens the severity of the word.

Compton is a famously dangerous black neighborhood. it's known to all as the place Niggers With Attitude came from. The Markles are not from Compton but the Mail managed to work the place into the headline. I think you'd need a hood and a rope to be more clearly racist.

Sorry my mistake, I don’t know LA that well and assumed they were the same area. Then yeah the headline is wrong (though it does say (almost)), but there’s nothing wrong with the article, it’s not racist to describe the area she is from, if anything it makes people think well done for making something of yourself after coming from a tough background. There were plenty of articles on Kate’s background, where she lived, and where she went to school etc. and she got a lot more flack coming from that middle class background.

Im just not buying into the people not liking her because of her ethnicity argument. They don’t like her because of her actions.
