Not Ghost Lake - no.

No-one else was - there were tons of boats and sea-doos whizzing around and the wind/current was quite strong. Maybe we weren't in the right place for swimming?

Wow look at the size of that fish - my other half can't wait to go fishing when we get over there - is that place anywhere near Calgary at all and do you need a fishing licence? Oh, and do you have to be careful of the local wildlife creeping up on you at all (I couldn't let him go if there was any threat of him being eaten by a bear/coyote)!

Our recent trip to Ontario resulted in my getting this lovely sunset photo of Lake Huron at Grand Bend.

Sadly it is not always like this. A young girl drowned there on Wednesday in 1-metre high waves.

Near Calgary? No, about a 4 hour drive.

The good news is that there is plenty of good fishing near Calgary. The Bow river for example. And it runs right throught the centre of town.

Fishing licence? Yes, you need one. And read up on all the regulations. It seems every lake and river has different rules. Even different parts of the same river can have different rules. Check out the regulations:

http://www.albertaoutdoorsmen.ca/fishingregs/

Its always good to be carefull of local wildlife. Even in the city there have been reports of cougars in the last month or so. We had a coyote living in out neighbourhood last spring and we're only 5 miles from downtown.

My trusty "getting old now, almost four years" Canon Digital Rebel/300D

The Emerald Lake and Mount Rundle shots are panorama composites of multiple shots stitched together.;)

No its abit far for you!!! yes you need a fishing licence costs about $50 for the year I think! We have had no trouble with wildlife yet... which hubbie is upset about! ha ha!!! lol!!! Just hear the coyotes. That lake on the pic, if the pike is less than 2ft long you have to put it back.

that's one of the things I am loving here so far (no, not the storms!) - but the fact that you can see so much sky, in all directions, and just "watch" the weather happening - fascinating ...

Oh thankyou (takes bow)... perhaps I'd better confess that it was taken by OH, though the Lake Louise and Calgary shots are from my little Canon Ixus. I know... I don't miss our other home quite so badly in the summertime but it's so hard to get through a London winter when you know Calgary may be -30 and a foot deep in snow but still having a blue sky day.
