It could be argued (perhaps?),
1.that being PC is simply a method by which constructive debate of both sides of an issue is avoided?

These recent ramblings, re gollywogs, idiotic Scots etc etc, yes, could be offensive within certain contexts, that is for sure. However, within the context in which they were said, will these PC LIGHTEN UP, and TAKE IT EASY for crying out loud!. Get over it, and find something more important to get erked about!. There are more important issues in the world for gods sake! (oooh, woops, said the word 'god'- sorry I might offend someone as the word 'god' could mean I don't know what in what context?).
Next thing will be we won't be allowed to 'laugh' , as we will offend someone who does not 'laugh'! Just you wait, that's what will happen!.
As for the Scots comments - I grew up in Scotland, and there was often prejudice towards the English in Scotland let it be known! That seems fine for the Scots to be able to do that, but as soon as someone makes a joke about Scots they can't swallow it alot of them. Weird huh!.
PC - it's all about avoidance of proper debate around a given issue is it not?.
Above all, PC is stifling. Do not misinterpret what my message is above - it is not about prejudice, which I am most definetly not. However, stifling debate for fear of 'offending' someone in a context where it is not is almost verging upon the communist control mindset??

Everything you can think of saying will be offensive to someone
Who cares if the Scots hate the English once in a while
...the English hate everyone
....the N.Irish hate everyone even their own

Philosophy should never get in the way of a good rant.
