I hate the long dark evenings of winter.

Visit San Diego for palm trees lots there even cell phone towers designed to look like them.

A bit extra sun as well but still dark by 5:30 or so.
In lower New York they are designed to look like pine trees along the Hutchinson River Parkway.

We had two palms in our front yard down here in Mississippi. Lost all the fronds last winter due to frost and today it is only 6 p.m. and 36 degrees.

This week hasn’t been great....I’m not too far from Bristol ‘in Canadian terms’ and we have a two car driveway, but by the end of April we don’t know where to put the snow and all of the neighbours start getting antsy in case anyone is infringing on their snow line. This has been entirely too much for this time of year - 19 ‘real feel’ at lunch...and I was physically knocked off my feet this afternoon by the high wind...a scary experience....

Not long till Spring though now?

I'm not sure about NB but in Saskatchewan it'll probably be about 4 to 4.5 months.

I am working with the first person I have ever met who likes winter. "Eeee! Woo Hoo" she exclaimed this morning "it's warming up and will soon be warm enough for snow".

Winter coat, winter hat, boots and gloves today. I 'tested' my shoes on the front steps and immediately decided not only that boots were better for the ice, I wouldn't even risk the walk to the bus stop. Taxi'd to and from the grocery store.

Threw salt down for when I got back.

Snowed overnight and hasn't stopped much all day. Roads are yucky. Please let this be my last Albertan winter.

I had to blow the driveway today and the commute was as slippery as I can remember. It's not a competition but an Ontario winter isn't something to love either.

I like it for days when I want to ski downhill but I don't want snow on the roads on the way to the ski hill. Freshly fallen snow on a sunny day after the storm has a certain beauty but when it is all crusty, and beige coloured at the side of the road or a light black tone in the spring in parking lots when they are near the end of the melt not so much.

Working from home is much better than being a commuter to work in the winter.

I rather value being in the office on the days when no one else turns up. Of course, they're all in chat windows, but that's not the same level of disruption as actually being in a room with them.

of this, I am aware. An Ontario winter is generally shorter. OH has a job offer, open for at least a year in the UK. Our hearts and our heads have no idea what is going on.

We don't get your sort of ice storms in Saskatchewan, and I'd far rather put up with some cold weather and the odd blizzard than face that. The last time I was in TO all the cars had an inch or 2 of ice all over them, and it wasn't even considered notable weather.
The next morning sitting in the 737 we waited at the terminal 15 or 20 min past departure time as other planes went through the de-icer, some having to come back for more before take-off. I'd just taken a peek at my watch and wondered how much longer we'd have to wait when the pilot came on the intercom and said "I'm just trying to work up the nerve." Yes, it was Westjet and he got a laugh from his captive audience.
