Re: The new winter thread - 2018-19
Finally conceded it was snow pants time for the little un today - I think that’s been the latest I’ve had to bring them out in the 5 years we’ve been here.
Also woke up to find the sump pump going like crazy as it’s been so mild that we hadn’t taken the outlet hose off. Was at a bonfire on Sunday night in a sweater - this morning there was a two foot icicle hanging off the connection and a lovely soaking of freezing water when I unscrewed it. That’ll teach me.

-23, -32 with the windchill, but it's going to warm up. Because of the wind it will still feel like -20 all day though.

Nights are drawing in fast. 5 pm and dark.
I too would prefer palm trees.

I hate the long dark evenings of winter.
Visit San Diego for palm trees lots there even cell phone towers designed to look like them.
A bit extra sun as well but still dark by 5:30 or so.

Canada would be more tolerable if I could visit home more.

Canada would be more tolerable without snow, sub zero temps and with palm trees.

Lol... We dont have many palm trees but most of the winter in Southern Coastal BC is snow free and lack sub zero temps. Of course we get more cold days than any of the coastal California citys do.
Last time it snowed in coastal San Diego was Dec 1967, although it was a trace amount.
The mountains in California get snow though of varying amounts.
May not have a ton but we do have some.
