Default New Skinny Basic 25$ cable TV

New rules come into force on March 1st, all cable providers must provide basic cable for 25$

What that gets you is still a mystery 3 days before the changes take place and no info has been sent thus far to us consumers. I did lower my cable bill a while back when I got an Android box and did not totally cut off the supply of Rogers ease of use cable. I kept basic, history and discovery and sports.

I called them today as they sneeked an extra 13$ a month onto my cable bill and was told an offer had exapired!! Ouch

Then I asked about the new $25 packages and the add ons and the guy said they have no prices get, lol, 3 days before launch ? He then went on to attempt to sign me up for another 2 years at the rate I had prior to the raise. Why would I do that when the whole cable TV rules will change in 3 days, so I got a discount on this bill instead and now wait to see what is on offer March 1.

$25 basic cable package must be in place by March 1 - Business - CBC News

Magnumpi, are you still with Rogers, even though you have the media box?

not as clean as it looks does the Rogers 'skinny package'

Check out vmedia for a better option, their basic is $17.95

I still have my flatwave digit antenna guaranteed 27 channels & when the warmer weather hits it gets to 40

I also have the Amazon streaming fire stick that we got from the states a year ago

Its as good as it gets, especially the FL5500A antenna bought on Amazon.ca

Thanks for that. It looks like we could get the local channel on an indoor aerial and maybe some others. Last time I checked we couldn't get any without a TV tower. We're in a bit of a valley.

An old work chum lives in Uxbridge at a postal code that is considered horrible for digital antenna reception [TV fool map]. He had an outdoor antenna that he paid over $400 installed that gave him only 5 stations.

Took the flatwave up, stuck it on an inside wall on the main floor & 9 channels.

it has to be the Winegard FL5500A amplified model

Amazon Amazon

My antenna is on a upstairs bedroom wall (covered with a picture) facing SE, on a splitter for the bedroom TV as well as down to the TV on the main floor.

With Amazon, you get to try it & return it for a refund within 30 days.

They ship it for free & if returning they send you the pre-paid return postage paid label FWIW

How many of them channels do you actually watch? Or have content actually worth watching other than CTV

I watch all the Canadian & Buffalo channels (60% Buffalo, 40% Canadian) - I would say top picks of 20 stations on the list 80% of the time. The others make up the remaining 20% viewing. Exclude the shopping channels that are such a waste of time

There is stuff on the OTA that is not on Rogers cable anywhere

The HD quality is amazing & all the American stations have only US commercials

I do not have Rogers cable or from another provider such as vmedia

If it gave you just two channels, would it be worth 'the try it out'?

Its up to you, you could try it - if it doesn't work return it for free for a refund

I know, but it's a big ugly thing so we would have to drill a hole in the ceiling to stick it in the attic.

you dont have to stick it in the attic, its small, paper thin, I have it on a wall with a picture over it

The thing is 13" x 12" x 0.017" thick, weighs 12.8 oz

You won't even try it, so be it.

Our son lives in uptown Toronto, 2nd, floor all concrete building, buildings all around him, no clear view of anything. His walls face East. I got him back in January this year a used one from Amazon for $55 (yes he paid me for it), it gets him 20 channels (before the weather improves, when he likely will get more) - so he is static 20 channels.
