Kate,
I think that the recent weather (warm then wet) has forced the Spiders indoors. I don't think it's a breeding thing, as they still need food and I'm assuming you don't have a fly problem?

Hope you don't have a Dyson or you may see the little bleeders running around the transparent drum
I have been told not to vacuum up any ants into our central vac as they can live in there. They are very hardy. When I first came across them in my bathroom I used to put them outside .....
....... now its 'die you :curse:, die

I know it isn't Canada, but when we moved into our rental in Florida, we noticed a couple of suspicious spiders under the front eaves. I killed one with Raid, it rolled over in a death spasm, and I saw the typical markings of a black widow. Turns out, we had loads of them dotted around the outside of the house, and one brown widow INSIDE!! One black one was especially large, and between the eggs and the actual spiders, the bug guy estimated we had around 700-1000 spiders there. Give me a good ol' fashioned UK house spider anyday. At least those things can't potentially kill you!
We tried the Raid for spiders, but funnily enough, it's the one for ants and roaches that kills them quicker.

We currently have a pest control contract and they use Termidor. It's the stuff you're referring to. This company are absolutely shite, though. The guy who comes round is about 90 years old, and he's always forgetting to address problem areas. Usually within a couple of days, the webs that he did sweep are back because he missed a spot where a spider was hiding. :curse: I've complained lots but I can't cancel the contract right now, as they want $65 for the privilege of doing that, and we can't afford it right now.
