Please also post in the Moving Back to UK forum or at least review posts there. Doing so combined with feedback from this forum, will lead to a far more objective view. Personally I would not recommend a move. Many do and are happy, but many do and are not. Check out the other forum for a bit of balance and good luck with whatever you decide.

Just because many others are happy or unhappy is not a reason to do (or not) something. Whilst I agree a varied and objective view is necessary, each persons perception of any given situation can be different.

To the OP, why do you want to move to Canada. If you have a reason to move (as opposed to a reason to leave the UK) then you're probably more likely to settle here. I came here for love, others for work, yet more for the perceived better quality of life.

I think we're in agreement over this. But that's the point of having an objective perspective is to consider other people's reasons and form your own.

The danger, however, in just looking at the Maple Leaf forum is that it will predominantly be biased in favour of moving to or staying in Canada. Not that there's anything wrong with this, just I would urge anyone before making a big decision to get as much objectivity as possible. Then decide.

Nobody can find the answers in individual posts, but looking at opinions of others covering different in an objective way will allow people to gain a strong perspective and make their own mind up.

No, I'm more actively involved in running a supporters club here.

Dunno why curry would be a problem. We eat Indian a couple of times a month, in Toronto's Little India, in Brampton, even in Guelph. Vancouver also has a large Indian population. You must be able to get to Vancouver or Toronto.

You are right, Vancouver has some great indians. However, without a bunch of pissed up Brits, onion barjis, Carling Blacklabel and a name like Lancashire Tandoori - it just does n't seem the same.

I miss seeing family and friends but I still speak to them and use messenger, e-mail and Facebook. I don't however miss the UK as a place, or it's negativity though.

That's likely me you are referring to. I felt really cut down by you and in my own defense it was like my second post on a blog in my life. You are right - it is just about opinions, of which were are entitled. I think I just felt deflated after being intrigued about the whole expat thing. Silly really.

Wish they had this site when i came here in 1993 - not sure we even had the "tinternet" then!

Hope all is going well with EPS.
