I sat in the car whilst the Mrs, masked up, went shopping yesterday to pick up a few essentials.
I passed the time by watching who was wearing and who wasn't.
I estimate that about 10-15% were wearing masks.
What did surprise me was that it was the younger generation who were wearing whereas, apart from Mrs, I don't remember seeing any other oldie with a mask.
So having received warnings that it's older people who tend to be at risk, it's those oldies who're ignoring the advice. Whether this is down to cost, lifestyle, attitude or any other reason isn't obvious, but perhaps it's the young who realise that they have more years to lose who're apparently taking this virus more seriously.

I think I'm seeing more than that in the grocery stores, but in the lumberyard hardly any.

It's very random from my observation in Vancouver, no one age group seem to be more likely to wear one over another, in Wal-Mart and Super Store visits during the week (anywhere from 3-6 visits a day) I would say its now about 40% wearing masks and 60% not wearing masks on a typical visit, I have noticed more people wearing masks as weeks go on.

At the dollar store in our building yesterday of the 15 people I counted in the store, my wife, myself and 1 other had a mask on, none of the employees did.

At Home Depot last week nearly nobody had a mask on.

If my experience of tracking down a supply is anything to go by, it might just be that they are less likely to have used, or succeeded with, an internet search for the elusive buggers.

I know what stores in Vancouver that have boxes of disposable masks if anyone is looking.

Canadian Tire off Grandview Highway in east Vancouver has a nice stock of disposable masks, $10 for 10 masks, also have a decent stock of hand sanitizer, including 5 gallon buckets, they also have face shields.

Staples on Lougheed Highway not far from Boundry Rd has boxes of $50 masks, I believe they were $35.

I think so and I don't think it creates a dilemma. If a place requires a jacket and tie or a mask or whatever, people can choose to wear the required attire or not go.

I got mine in the end from Staples - ordered on line for pick-up by stepdaughter working next door. Amazon was a con but refunded, Walmart 3rd party appears a con. Not wanting to have more than one order on the go, it took over two months. SD was provided for at work so little urgency for me.

All those kijiji ads mind...I don't know how happy I'd be having to call on them to see, buy etc, unless they were very local. As in on foot, in the neighbourhood. 6 passenger restriction on the buses so you may not get on, mask recommended etc

Its only a matter of time before there is an ADA lawsuit, its big industry in the US for lawyers, the ADA overall is a good thing, but the government made it too easy to sue companies and its become little industry, there are some who basically in the business of finding ADA issues in businesses and then suing.


The following individuals are exempt from wearing a face covering:

• Persons age two years or under. These very young children must not wear a face covering because of the risk of suffocation.

• Persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering. This includes persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a face covering could obstruct breathing or who are unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a face covering without assistance.

• Persons who are hearing impaired, or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.

• Persons for whom wearing a face covering would create a risk to the person related to their work, as determined by local, state, or federal regulators or workplace safety guidelines.

• Persons who are obtaining a service involving the nose or face for which temporary removal of the face covering is necessary to perform the service.

• Persons who are seated at a restaurant or other establishment that offers food or beverage service, while they are eating or drinking, provided that they are able to maintain a distance of at least six feet away from persons who are not members of the same household or residence.

• Persons who are engaged in outdoor work or recreation such as swimming, walking, hiking, bicycling, or running, when alone or with household members, and when they are able to maintain a distance of at least six feet from others.

• Persons who are incarcerated. Prisons and jails, as part of their mitigation plans, will have specific guidance on the wearing of face coverings or masks for both inmates and staff

When people in certain parts of the US are asked to wear a mask, they are going nuts. It's so funny to see them lose it over something that benefits everyone.
