I don't know how anyone can wear one on like a 10+ hour flight either, even 5 hour flight isn't appealing.

I wouldn't take transit, seems many here in Vancouver think the same, transit isn't picking up very quickly even with more people going back to work, can't blame people, they say stay 6 feet away from one another in stores, and everywhere else, say movie theaters are too risky, but then have no issue cramming people into buses and trains with no distance at all.
I never understand the issue ppl have wearing masks. In Asia, it is hot in Bkk, we wear masks daily. We don't sweat. I don't know what type of mask you are talking about, but at my present location in Austria we wear mainly masks made from suitable cotton material. Easy to breath with those. We can even get locally made FFP2 masks which are super to wear and are meant for long-hour wearing like airtravel. These ordinary theatre masks are irritating for more than 30 mins.
A recent article I read suggested that problems wearing a mask are in your mind.

I don't like the disposable ones, they get hot and steamy far too quickly. I have now bought us all light double lined cotton ones which are much more comfortable, and they don't get my glasses in a bother.

We (New Brunswick) have just made it mandatory to wear a mask in any building open to the public.

I find the same with the disposable ones, within 20 minutes they are hot and steamy and not comfortable at all, certainly not something I can wear for 1-2+ hours straight.

I did order some cloth reusable masks, haven't gotten them yet, the one I ordered first and got isn't cotton and only moderately better than the disposable, but is too small for my face, fits my wife perfectly though so she uses it instead.

The cost of the disposable ones add up as well, not supposed to reuse them, but when they come out to like a buck a mask, well that adds up, some of the bigger packs can get down to 70 cents a mask.

But there isn't and hasn't been a mandate here to wear masks, in the grocery stores seems maybe 1/2 the customers wear them, even fewer employees wear them. Lots of employees wear gloves but then when you touch the touch screen of the self check out, then a cart, then touch your eyes and nose, well why wear gloves at all?

Super Store, Wal-Mart, Loblaws, Petsmart, Canadian Tire, No Frills and Shoppers Drug Mart, none have required a mask.

With the exception of Loblaws, all the stores are on the east side of Vancouver.

If you can't get masks or only at a high price you can simply use a scarf or large hankerchief. There are many patterns on how to make a mask on the internet. Material needs to be washable at min. 60C or steam iron it hot.

Gloves: don't your supermarkets provide disinfetant for baskets and trolleys?

I haven't seen any, just get the shopping cart from the corral in the parking lot like usual before entering the store. Shoppers did have some hand sanitizer at the door when entering the store though.

I can't see the reason makes sense. "It was not the intent" they said. How on earth can you announce a requirement and apply that requirement from a specific date - logically to allow people time to get/make masks - and then say you didn't intend to do it?
I won't be too critical though. The government here has handled it very well so far and even the response to that idiot doctor has been very good.

Both stores I went to have them. One of them even taped cards to the handles to the already in store carts saying they had already been done and to remove the cards when you have finished, thus identifying carts that needed sanitising again.

We are required to use shopping trolleys even if we just buy a bar of chocolate. Reason: number of people allowed in the store is limited. Once the trolley bay is empty you can't go in until one comes out. Trolleys also ensure a distance to other customers at least at the till queue. Sounds perfect but there are always folks who ignore rules.

I posted this a few weeks ago.

Of course you might not be able to reach the shelves

I think I'm seeing 1/4 - 1/3 of customers in grocery stores wearing masks now. I find it convenient because when people won't get out of my way, they are unable to see the words I'm mouthing.
