The rest of last night's steak became the Canadian classic; a hot beef sandwich with gravy. Of course I added oniion, garlic, green onion and jalapeno and even diced up a few leftover chips and threw them in. Dash of Bovril and 2/3 can of Dollar Store hamburger steak sauce. There are no rules. It was great.

:)

We had posh sandwiches, wraps and salads brought in as we had a long and as it turned out, fraught meeting. There was lots of things like chicken and turkey sarnies but they all seemed to be named after some place. Apparently the Mediterranean area and oddly enough Santa Fe New Mexico must be renowned for their sandwiches. One of the salads even had baby octopuses in it.

Someone cooked a steak in my office at lunchtime and set the fire alarm off.

Is it still too cold to cook outside?

No, now it's too mosquito-ey to cook outside.

A half kilo of steamed mussels with garlic butter and what's turning into a bottle of Peller Estates chardonnay. :p Canada's Food Guide be damned! Don't worry, I'll have a salad later, possibly around when the Teatime Choices thread starts coming alive.

I'm making some nice bacon sandwiches now which should hold me until at least half time of the Rider game, then I can work on chicken surprise for supper unless I have too much beer.

Why? Are you a vegan or some kind of Jain?
A man in a restaurant asked the waiter, "Can you tell me how you prepare your chickens?" The waiter answered, "Nothing special, we just tell them they're going to die."

Twas a play on the word 'surprise', a surprised chicken. Oh well.

Well it's still going to be a surprise, I've got 2 cut up leg w/back so 2 drumstick, 2 thigh, and 2 backs. I could make curry, tacos, fajitas, chicken salad, fried chicken, chicken on a stick, if I went across the highway to the ethnic market and bought a can of mole' sauce I could make enchilladas but that's a bit ambitious. I have to plan on cooking enough for 2 and holding the line at eating for 1. With the great deal on assorted peppers I got at the fruit stand just south of here came a couple of little eggplants, a soft cucumber, and a carrot and a couple of new potatoes. That in itself is a veg curry or similar waiting to happen. No chips at present so I can make calamari once more before changing the oil in the deep fryer.

A lovely garden salad and some of the local white wine. Time to get more local white wine!
