Re: Local newspaper stories
We have a new garbage sorting program. It's not just wet/green and dry/blue anymore. And it's mandatory.
Non compliant bags are rejected with an orange sticker and you have to re-sort or have it removed at a cost of $100 - now being enforced.
Not surprisingly, illegal dumping has increased. Especially of bags with orange stickers.

and what fancy name do they give these mandatory garbage sorting program officers?
In my neck of the woods we are spared such bureaucracy, so far, but we are blessed language/signs enforcement officials

It snowed. Quite a lot. Some people took pictures and submitted them to the paper.
The SallyAnn's kettle drive needs a big push to reach its fundraising goal. Apparently not as many people have spare change as they used to, because we're all using plastic.
A man was mugged at knifepoint in the early hours of Sunday morning. The three suspects fled on foot, the victim was not harmed

Couple uses taxi as getaway car. He has to "make a withdrawal" and pops into store while taxi waits with accomplice in the car.
He holds up the store ($300 and cigarettes) gets back into car to continue to destination.
Other car blocks path, driver tells cabbie what happened. Couple try to make escape.
He removes her wheelchair from the taxi, she gets in and they leg it with him pushing her.
