Re: Local newspaper stories
Today, I am at a small roundabout, a split second (literally), before I accelerate ahead, some kid speaking on his phone runs along the passenger side and hops in front of the car to cross the road. Had my wife not alerted me, there could quite easily have been another tragedy to contend with. I really don't know how some people can be so stupid.

The usual not just "review" of the year but wholesale reproduction of news reports previously published in months gone by.
It's a good job that current newsworthy events are suspended at this time of the year or there would be no space to report them.

This was on the national news this morning - I was going to say something about a slow news day in Canada, then discovered it was published in the UK as well! Colleen's cat Mittens... Read all about it!

When Target replaced the Zellers store - in the same strip mall as a Sobeys and very conveniently situated as a transfer point for buses - Target insisted on the bus stops being moved away. Not their policy to have a convenient bus stop for their customers apparently.
Now that Target has has announced all the closures, the local paper has raised the possibility of the bus stop/transfer point being moved back thus eliminating the problems caused by the move.

This was the big news in town today.
Council votes no to Fortis drilling - Local News - Squamish Chief
I'll give you one thing about this town, they know how to build a reputation of being unfriendly to business and industry which only hurts the town in the long run.
They want to be the town of only have residential tax base for some reason and that won't pay the bills.

RCMP cracks down on pot dispensary
Medical pot dispensary ordered to close by RCMP, opened in Feb.
Go an hour South and you have like 60 to choose from since Vancouver Police don't seem to care much.

Although this was from the local paper it was from India.
Apparently a bride walked away from her wedding after testing the groom with a maths sum. What's 15+6?
He answered 17 so the wedding was off. The bride's father said the man's family had misled them as to his education.
The report referred to another wedding last month in the same area. The groom had a seizure. So the bride married one of the other guests.
Well, why waste all those arrangements?
