I noticed that and thought the same thing. Maybe they could call them up and ask for some tips just for a joke.

That would be funny. But the women might take it seriously and get ideas above their station. They might even start thinking that their version of the sport is equal or just less gay.

I was also wondering about the bouquets ... I think they look grim!

... but anyway, here's an article explaining them:

That's appalling, these athletes should be setting our young people who look up to them, an example. They appear to be making drinking alcohol and smoking seem cool to the kids. What next, doing lines of charlie off their medals? The sooner they pull the ladies ice hockey from the Olympics the better.

I haven't read any of this thread, and have been wanting to post since I first saw it. I have been resisting the temptation but I can't hold out any longer...

I keep imagining a team of players covered in white icing.

There - I feel so much better now.

A suggestion for an apology from Team Canada.

"Team Canada would like to apologise for any embarrassment our hockey team may have caused last night. A great sense of shame must have been felt across an entire nation, which must now ask 'how the hell did we manage to lose to two goals from an underage drinker, and one who speaks French to boot?'."

They acted like this was some brilliant and unexpected achievement, there were only two teams in it from the start, they beat the other team by two goals, part from the increase in bsmith's local reputation, its hardly an earth shattering victory. Get some perspective.

This was without doubt a two team contest right from the get go.

Yes, you are right - but I did find that a couple of the weaker teams did play better than they did during the world championships.....

Im ever hopeful steve - you know me, a true and ever faithful womens hockey fan - katie my five year old daughter plays hockey.....and I wouldnt have it any other way.....

...I fear any capital I may have gained from my association with a certain member of this team has been seriously undermined by the shocking hedonistic spectacle of what can only be described as some sort of modern day Bacchanalian orgy on ice.

That sort of thing may well be acceptable out there in "liberal" BC - but not here, not in these parts buddy! Shame on them!
