Given some of the press reports in the Canadian media after last night win over the Germans, there must be tremendous line ups at emergency departments across the country.
I can't believe the numbers that are jumping on and off then back on the band wagon.

I can only assume if Canada does not win tonight they'll all be jumping off again.

Most of my verbiage is shite and very much tongue in cheek, sarcastic, not funny, and most of all should generally be ignored.

Then I refer the honourable gentleman to the 1936 Garmisch winter games

Ok, so many of those brits were dual Canadian citizens or residents at some point, but still, they beat Canada to gold!

When did the GB ice hockey Team last qualify for the winter olympics?

Actually, I'd be pretty happy if Canada lost to Russia today - not because I wish the NHL second-string all-star team ill, but because it might shut the TV commentary people up about hockey and help Canada to appreciate some of the other phenomenal athletic achievements of these games.
Sure, the hockey women will probably win gold, but that's such a no-contest it quickly becomes boring. There are some potentially good battles elsewhere - in the cross-country 4x10km relay (the team pursuit team finished a creditable fourth); in both men's and women's curling; in women's figure skating; in the four-man and two-woman bob; the list goes on.
The Olympics is not all about hockey. Even the US TV networks are relegating hockey matches to the cable sports channels in favour of figure skating (NBC didn't carry the Canada-US game live on its main network, for example); the rest of the world really doesn't care.

I'll be glad when this is over.
