how much of a slut are you?
 

How tidy/clean/organised is you house? If it's untidy does it really matter??

My house is always a mess, heaps of papers on tables, nothing filed away, clothes on the bedroom floor. I used to have one room that was presentable but with this open plan living there's nowhere to hide. I waste hours trying to sort it the mess when I could be doing something fun.

Apart from basic hygiene, clean loos and kitchen, is it important? How badly does one judge others for having a messy home??

NB this applies to both sexes.

My 'house' is pretty good, my cave (as the OH likes to call my office) is a complete bombsite BUT I know where everything is.

As long as the place is largely dust free and MOST of the doghair is 'removed' I couldnt give a Rats Ass. ;)

I'm pretty much a tidy person and I tend not to acquire things. Living with a two dogs, one of them a puppy, a frequent autistic visitor and a hoarder who never picked up an item of clothing in her life was not ideal for me.

Our house is generally neat and tidy but my office usually looks like a bomb went off in there. I do however know where just about everything is. :blink:

However when we have our grand daughters staying with us the house looks like a war zone. There are toys all over the place. We tidy up a little when they go to bed but it's all over the place again as soon as they get up the next morning. :ohmy::)

Ditto here! I like things clean, but seem to struggle with the concept of tidy. Also, we have guest accommodation and I make sure I keep that immaculately clean and tidy (it's a totally separate building, thankfully :rofl: ) so during the Summer season, with the kids home all day spreading lego and various "crafts" everywhere, our house rapidly becomes even more of a bomb-site :eek:

;)I read somewhere that it's down to brain makeup. ie if neither right nor left side dominates then you don't stand a chance of being tidy.

I like to think of my house as lived in and welcoming, but I wonder what visitors would think. This must be down to my working class northern upbrining where we had to be tidy and clean. Doorsteps, windows.

Not that I actually get any visitors you understand but one day I might.

I did go to the neighbours house the other evening for one of those product parties, this one was selling environmentally friendly cleaning stuff. According to the woman we should be cleaning the windows weekly, the window screens, using a towel, facecloth, dishcloth once and then its into the laundry...

I too think the word should be 'slob' not 'slut' as they have very different conotations in my mind! We're (more specifically me) not the tidiest of people although the house is generally clean and the untidiness generally only requires an hour or two of concentrated effort to put right. We have a cleaner who comes in once a week which means we do a frantic tidy on a Monday night so she spends the 2 hrs on Tuesday cleaning as opposed to tidying.

Why is it that nowadays there has to be an excuse for the way one is: I am fat because of my genes, I am unable to be tidy because of my genes. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

I am a reall tidy bugger and a bit of a control freak when it comes to such matters, but I blame it all on the fact that I wasn't allowed to eat chocolate bars when I was in the womb:p

mmm when I lived alone I would be a complete slut (read slob) midweek then have a cleaning frenzy at the weekend ready to begin again first thing Monday morning.

I miss that sometimes - you can just come home throw your work clothes on the floor, or getting ready to go out have an array of outfits hanging from every lampshade and door knob while you're trying to decide what to wear.

When you live with somebody who is almost obsessive about everything being in its proper place you have to temper those untidy habits :o

Our house is usually presentable in a lived in homely sense, take me as you find me type thing, if I haven't hoovered the dog fluff yet, I will soon(tomorrow). However we have visitors at the moment, if hubby could have cleaned the roof he would have done, it's been a nightmare, all my filing has been hidden in the cupboard where I can't reach it or add to it. I agree with the comment about needing muck for immunity - anyhow, visitors are comming back from the lake house tomorrow and I have been to clean bathrooms and tidy - my god they are only people:frown:

Why do visitors think that the cups and plates etc that they use put themselves into the dishwasher???????

Hmm think it should be slob also:ohmy: I confess I am a bit OCD, no washing up left in sink or on draining board, bed made minute we are up, no clothes on floors, worktops anti bacteria sprayed after every use....hoover every day, clothes hung in colour order ....I live with someone I have nicknamed the whirlwind as he just leave mess behind him .....drives me nuts but my tiding up drives him nuts...so between us we try to comprimise but it's not easy.....

I used to live with someone, non-affectionally known as Shithead II, who was obsessively tidy. It made me miserable. He even had to have the couch lined up just so, with the books on the coffee table lined up, misery. He went to live in Croydon.

Sounds like me. Decided I needed help when I started to make the kids late for school = couldnt leave the house without having hoovered, washed floors etc. . .including pulling out sofa, fridge, washing machine!

I was in the Army and when I lived in the "lines" my room and bedspace was literally immaculate, my locker was pristine, I even went to the stage of cleaning my cleaning things!
Then I got married and it went down hill!, we are generally tidy, we are defo hygienic, but we have sudden urges and we both run around the house, tidy up, clothes in washing all that good stuff. Then immediately we sit down and start messing it up again!
But when we know someone is coming over she goes mental! I have even seen her moving the cooker to wipe down the sides and clean underneath!
Can anyone let me know if they visit friends and look under the cooker! You need to come to my house we have the cleanest under the cooker floor ever!

I am very messy. I don't really like mess though, but I am definately messy. My husband is pretty tidy and not sure how he copes with me.

I wouldn't go far as to say I am a slut! Slut has other meaning to me!

But, on that note, I cannot ever imagine very very tidy people being any good in the bedroom department............

I knew a girl who kept a pathologically clean and tidy flat and she was brilliant in bed. Did all kinds of nasty things. :thumbup:

People can be untidy but it doesnt make them dirty! I always wash my cup before I make a fresh cuppa, but I often place the empty cup in the sink until I go to bed, wash them in the dishwasher during the night. Untidy but hygienic!
