Its not a case of bragging about being untidy - just saying it how it is.

MOH will jokingly say "ahem whats wrong with this picture?" if theres a cup left out overnight

My response will be to say "oh get a life" (again jokingly!) or take another drty one out of the dishwasher and put it next to it and ask if that makes him feel doubly uncomfortable ;)

I get itchy fingers but have learnt not to comment or start tidying! My kids laugh!

Its ok with an old friend who has an incredibly yucky car - whenever she gave me alift I would get in armed with a bag in which to put in rubbish - I found loads of stuff she lost!

You would love my car then! Complete pigpen and it drives my husband nuts!! I lost my mobile phone about 10 days ago...found it today on the floor of the car :p

but I am a domestic goddess in the house...just a slut in the car...doesn't really have the same ring to it though :D

I'm a bit like that too:( when we were selling our last 2 houses, my husband would tell friends that after I had cleaned the house for a viewing, if he or the kids even breathed on anything I would turn into a complete bitch:eek: the nerve!;):lol:

We live in a general state of "stuff" on most surfaces because I can't be bothered to pick up everything and kids can't be bothered to put one thing away. My hubby is generally much more tidy than the three females in the house - and he's much better at clearing up after a day out ski'ing, or camping, holidaying etc - he just puts everything away, straight away. I would dump in on the floor and get round to it sometime in the next week or two.

We're mostly pretty clean though under all that, somehow. Loos, bathrooms and beds are good (though they don't get made everyday!).

I find the best way to clean the house is to invite someone over for dinner. Then I am a pedantic pain in the backside from 9am until they arrive and every single thing gets put away and tidied - and if it doesn't move, it gets bleached! Mostly, I am 'take me as you find me' but a dinner invitation is special!

Edit for fledermaus. I don't care if other people's houses are untidy, but if the bathroom for example was grubby or the kitchen was dirty, I'd be really put off. Your messy paperwork just makes me feel comfortable and normal!

I don't think we're particularly slutty or anal. We're not into knick-knacks so it's usually quite tidy, except for my office, which has piles of dusty paper on the floor. There are, however, almost always some tools lying around, along with various items of clothing.

Cleaning comes in campaigns. It is not unknown for her to go at the tiles wih a toothbrush.

I was saying to my Mrs he other day about when we were in the Army, we had to move house so we would pack everything away and clean the house extreme style. I can remember of having to use tip ex to whiten the tile grout around the coal fire place years ago, Using a cotton bud to clean the corners in the window frames! Very extreme!
Every time we did it we would say we were going to hire some cleaning firm to it the next time. She would then clean the house and say to me they can come and clean it now! There was no way I was paying after she had cleaned it! It was just typical of her she wouldnt let them come and clean the house if it was dirty! She's a Crazy old girl!;)

My damp cloth is for the kitchen cupboards.........drives my OH nuts - when he's in the kitchen i'm right behind him, he can barely put a spoon down on the counter and it's whipped away and the spit of liquid cleaned up!:lol:

That's divorce territory. I love it, absolutely love it, when she starts cleaning the pots while I'm cooking dinner, including the ones I'm still using.

"What happened to the liquid in it; the porcini soaking liquid that I want to now put into the the risotto?"

Do you live in my house?? :lol: it's exactly the same here - you see, I clean as I go, where as he uses every pot, bowl and untencil in the cupboard and leaves it all till he's eaten (and some !) drives me MENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

Well, we are both untidy, him more than me. Together we have perfect entropy. Nobody does anything to make the mess it just happens.

I feel uncomfortable in perfectly clean and tidy houses. I can't relax in case I spill something, or drop crumbs, or wrinkle the cushions. On the other hand I have been in a house where I couldn't eat without gagging as the place was so filthy, we had to leave early to find a public loo as theirs was too awful to use. Lovely people though, really lovely.

I should learn to love the chaos and not give a stuff about what people think.

We can be a little bit untidy at times, ( I never go in the basement as it's always upside down with kids toys and my OH musical and recording stuff, it drives me potty, so I don't go there) but never dirty - I can't abide that.
