How do Canadians vent?

Canadians are strange about conventions that were originally British. A cool calm unemotional approach is expected of you in Canada, even if it is painful. To show agression or temper will embarrass everyone who hears your conversation and they will pretend they don't hear what you said in order to escape having a part in it. They will automatically side with whoever was yelled at. The first to lose his cool is wrong. Canadians don't settle disputes with agression. They settle disputes by argument in the sense that they disagree, and this can mean contradiction, and citing what legitimizes their side. A Canadian will almost always conform to the point of view that they must follow the "rules". They very often will never tell you why they are never going to speak to you again either.
Living next to the wild USA, Canada opted for the mounties and conservatism rather than to have liberty and shoot out your differences in the street like uncivilized Yankees. In order to assert differences from "Americans", the Canuck is ridiculously affected by this system of codes of behaviour. Ingrained in them is a great big degree of honour, but it is somewhat pathetically stunted for expression.
To bollock correctly, you have to say they are wrong. Tell them not to bother you, and to cool themselves down. It will make them incredibly angry that they have been accused of getting angry. And then act very polite and aplogize. They will lose sleep for six weeks.
Cheers

This whole thread sounds more like a treatise on how Brits vent about Canadians.
Sounds like a bunch of Brits here miss a good bollocking.

The problem is that Canadians can't get their heads around their country is now shit.. They loved the peacekeeping aspect part of it, back in the day, but that's down the drain so they've got nothing. They're now just a sad impotent facsimile of the US.

they vent by gossiping A LOT .. . I have seen that in the family I married into, at work amongst my colleagues, and in the community we live in.
I am always stunned what I hear about a particular person and then see how tremendously friendly they are with that person once they are present...

I think the only time Candians have real balls is when they can hide behind the wheel of a car, they get very aggressive when driving, if you were to get out and have it out with them i think they would run a mile - awful rude drivers!

I admit I went off topic a bit.....the point is, Canadians don't vent. They don't know how to let it all go ... because there is no mechanism in their society to express anger. If you bark at some Yob on the phone your boss'll have yer nackers in UK too, but in Canada people only hear that you are angry, not what you say. Drives Brits bonkers to deal with it. Just when is it OK to have a nice wobbler? Never you say? What am I supposed to do with it. aaarrgggg.

totally agree, some of the people i know are very bitchy and gossipy about other neighbours etc, then nice as pie to their face.

And, given the wild politics in the workplace, I have seen more than a tantrum or two.

I walked away from a 'conversation' yesterday. 4 cradles venting over something, saying the same thing over and over in increasingly loud voices. Nobody talking about what to do about the problem, how to put things right. They shouted and laughed and left it all in a mess.
