It surprises me not at all that Canadian hospitals hire security guards. Maybe they should hire some more, you know, medical people, so that folk don't get massively pissed-off when they've been sitting in ER for eight hours. That's just the urgent cases.

I feel better for that.

Ah but there aren't any doctors to hire are there? They are all driving taxis. Plus
two of our nearby hospitals are laying off people. 117 nurses at Peterborough.

I feel your pain

You might call it whingeing. We might call it complaining so that something gets changed. This is how things improve. Canadians put up with crap because 'that's the way it's always been done' and nothing changes.

Many a true word spoken in jest. So all of the ex-pats who complain and whinge about the weather should provide constructive suggestions on how it can be changed.

Very true. That said, even after 6 years with my wife, I still find the sight of her losing her rag rather amusing. I can, however, confirm that laughing doesn't help matters!

Indeed - a typical Calgarian aggressive driver who suffers from serious road rage rarely uses language stronger than the dreaded "donkey!"

I have come to realise that when a Canadian says "good" it means the opposite. As in:

A - "How is x doing in school"
B - "Good" (often followed by deathly silence)

translation: x has dropped out of school, but I won't be ready to admit it to anyone for another couple of months yet.
