I hear that BoJo will not be standing for the tory leadership.
What was it JFK said? 'think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country'.
This decision won't be understood by a great many, who see that the struggle against the EU will need those most committed to cause to carry it forward. Ducking out of the race smacks of self centered selfishness, but then he's a politician so he would have made a great one.
Will be extremely interesting to hear just where he positions himself viz a viz the negociating team or whether he ducks out of that too.

Stabbed in the back by your supposedly closest ally doesn't help your cause.

I know this is hard to believe but it now turns out that many idiots who voted for Leave thought that the word was an instruction to immigrants and nothing to do with the EU.

So I understand. Staggering really, the lack of awareness of a large portion of the UK populace.

I normally have zero interest in UK politics but lately it has been extremely difficult to avoid.

There was so much disinformation. The campaign was 6 weeks compared to 2 years for Scotland or POTUS. What were thinking? God knows.

The man should act like a grown up politician, not one that throws teddy out of the pram if things don't go his way. If this is the sort of thing that gets taught at Eton, it goes a long way to explain why the UK is where it finds itself at the moment.
It's clear that Henry Newbolt's famous phrase "Play up! Play up! And play the game!" no longer forms part of the Old Etonian philosophy.

I don't think Boris is gone, he's out of the fray for the time being but he'll be back. In any case, if the objection to Boris is that he's so driven by personal ambition that he's willing to destroy the country to get what he wants, then trading for someone who's so driven by his wife's ambition as to be willing to destroy the country to get what she wants, hardly seems an improvement.

I think he's out of the way for good. He's an unknown outside London and London voted Remain.

Gove is of course just as disastrous. I've not had the pleasure of meeting his wife, but I'm willing to assume that anyone who would marry that prick is a bit suspect.

So Theresa May it is then?

Although what I really want is a GE, Tories overthrown and Labour (?) in and another referendum called which galvanizes those that didn't vote and those that have now changed their mind to swing it the other way.... Odds?

I agree.. but with a twist.
The forthcoming negociations are unlikely to produce what the ardent brexiteer would have considered the least possible acceptable outcome. The second referendum.. or general election.. will be fought in order to provide acceptance of the new agreement.
With this background, I agree that the Remain group will regain the upper hand and the UK will seek to retract the article 50 provisions.
The twist arises when the 27 members of the EU can't agree on how to proceed and the countdown clock lapses with ineptitude and political bloody mindedness ending with a brexit after all...
But of course, this is pie in the european sky and common sense will see it all right in the end... or will it?

Thankfully so, before the GPs rip him limb from limb
