All of the trailer park boys movies, and all the series..
sums up most of rural Canada quite well.
In most towns /villages out in the boonies you can recognise one or more of the "boys" . well in MB & places in SK i visited.

Ice Road Truckers. Give you an idea of your potential commute
What was that awful show with the Mountie and his partner (or was it a dog?)? I'm thinking it was set in Toronto?
Very noble and all that to want to research popular culture, but most of what's on telly here isn't from here, mainstream seems to be mostly American and commercials, a lot of us on here watch British stuff online

And +1, most of the TV shows we watch are from the US and the UK... Canadian TV sucks...

Yes! Set in Chicago I see, but filmed in Toronto. I only managed about 5 minutes of it I think, so you can see why my knowledge of it would be patchy

I've not seen anything Canadian that's been any good since Da Vinci's Inquest (and City Hall), Intelligence and The Border. All CBC produced.

Are you talking about the new show intelligence on CTV about to start in 7mins starring the chick Marg from the original CSI? She is smoking by the way

I watched an actual episode of this last night - the internet was down so the Mrs and I couldn't continue with our Breaking Bad marathon. My goodness what a pile of absolute fetid dingos kidneys. I know they use Ice Pilots aircraft but even stealing the "plot" from Ice Pilots is a bit simple. Plus of course in the North America way, eveyone working for this airline, living in the first nations reserve etc etc are impossibly good looking.
I suppose living in Newfoundland, I have to pitch for Republic of Doyle to be added to the OP's list. It's a make work project for every actor from Newfoundland and is a sort of Rockford files thing. The best thing about it is i presents a beautifully filmed view of a St John's where it's always sunny, never rains and certainly never has fog/snow/gales. That'd be nice if it were true.
