Good Canadian TV Shows, Films and Music
As I am moving to Canada at some point this year, I want to start watching more Canadian Films and TV shows. Can anyone suggest any that are good? (I know that is a bit of an ambiguous question).
What about Canadian rock bands?
Thanks
Matt

Sorry, I was going to suggest Nickelback.
Then I remembered that I really ******* hate Nickelback. And I mean I utterly loathe them. Next time I hear them I will go deaf, not on account of the decibels but due to me bursting my eardrums with any available sharp implement.

Lets just say its subjective.
Maybe its better to ask for a list of famous (or at least reasonably well known) Canadian acts and shows and then you can decide if they are any good
CanCon rules ensure that most of the better know Canadian acts get probably more airtime and exposure than they deserve, which has been known to irritate brits that might want to hear something else from time to time.
Id say that most / many of these would be easily confused with US acts anyway.
off the top of my head...
Neil Young,
Nickelback
Rush
Tragically Hip
Allanis MOrisette
Celine Dion
Barenaked Ladies
Avril Levigne
Our Lady Peace
Allthosefiddleplayersfromouteast
In fact, just google Juno award winners and that should give you a cross section...
AS for TV.. most TV is US. There are exceptions, but as I ditched TV a few years ago Im not really qualified to comment. (Unless that is comment in itself that its just now worth what they charge for it)
A surprising number of seemingly holywood stars are in fact canadian, this has been discussed before.

Red Green
Trailer Park Boys
Little Mosque on the Prairie
This hour has 22 minutes
The Rick Mercer Report
From those you'll learn all you need to know about Canadian humour and the quality of broadcasting. And why most obtain content from elsewhere via the web.

There was another Rick Mercer vehicle called Made in Canada that I seem to recall I rather liked in its own parochial way. It was not too bad. An exception to the rule.

Corner Gas. I actually quite like Corner Gas, it reminds me of the Sunday Post and the People's Friend.
The people from Corner Gas did another show, about them being in a town rather than a field, and it was really, really bad.
There's another popular programme on all the time, it's hosted by a mentally ill person who wears colourful suits, and they cheer for people doing wrestling on ice skates.
