It ain't that simple. Given that all religions are predicated on superstition and irrational belief, it's only by dismantling the religion itself that these problems can be tackled. There is a humanism thread on one of the other BE forums, have a look at that.

That's a genuinely tricky one. As a convicted rapist, I don't believe he should have a "second chance" in the public sport of football. But, and it's a big but, the guy is adamant that it wasn't rape. Obviously the jury made a judgement on the facts that were presents, but rape cases where there is a degree of consent or alcohol are notoriously difficult to decide. He's done his time, and in theory he should admit his crime, but he doesn't, so in my view there remains some doubt. So on those shaky grounds, I can see some (not full) justification for giving him a second chance.

1. Stop pretending anyone who comes from a Muslim country, or family, or whatever necessarily wants to be Muslim. Protect and encourage those who actually wish to leave the community/faith. 2. Leave the rest alone unless they do bad shit. Make sure all children recieve an excellent education and are taught to think, reason etc, able to get jobs etc. 3. If they do bad shit, prosecute, just like anyone else. The end. |

Right.
It's 5.20 I'm off to Hooters for a sensible debate on fundamentalism. |

He has surely paid his price with his sentence? Where I am willing to give him some slack is the grey area of whether he did in fact commit rape. Assuming, as he insists, he didn't, it would be very wrong to further punish him after he has served some time in prison. So on that basis I would reluctantly permit him to play. It's "Shard logic" I'm afraid . ;):lol: |

Bats, have you seen any of the satire that these folks have done, perhaps it just what they wrote about is the reason why they died. So your agreement of TT's post is lost in the irony of it all.

He has surely paid his price with his sentence? You must also have seen how the website in support of him (that until now) had his full backing and has revealed enough about the victim for her to have been identified, shamed and need to change identity and home several times with each 'outing' of her by those supporting him. Finally, now, he has expressed some regret over this so maybe the stance people are taking will soften a bit. All legal technicalities aside, when you read the specific details of the night's events, I can understand that people want nothing to do with him and don't want him playing for the team they cheer for. |

Try to understand tho that terrorists strike at any time anywhere! Like London buses or World Trade Centre, I would rather not see any more random or organised murders of people to whome are just going about there bossiness, please. How do u know that Hooters is not the next target ? You don't and neither does anyone else. The "it won't happen to me" attitude is what these people use as a element of surprise |
