This can go both ways though... there could be an equal chance that people didn't bother to show up to vote because they wanted to vote leave but didn't believe the leave vote would win.

I'm intrigued to see what the turnout was amongst the young considering the % that are said to have voted remain. If turnout among this age group is as low as the general election, herein lay the problem and begs the question why did they feel they didn't want to vote on their future? Especially as their peers are the most vocal in criticising everyone else, but ignoring the real possibility their peers not showing up to vote could have swung this result.

First MP has also just come out suggesting parliament ignores the result, surely such action would be a political disaster and simply lead to more resentment of the political establishment than there already is!!

That's what I was doing.

In hindsight I should have voted. I did the first stage but when I saw the next stage other events in life overtook it as a priority.

It probably was.

Although I know it was around 60-64% of 18-24 year olds who voted to stay in, who knows the number of that age group that voted.

They have potentially missed out on the option of working in one of 27 other countries and as a few reports have pointed out there has been a surge in google searches on how to move to canada.

The IEC is no longer just going to be competitive, its going to be like a Black Friday sale!

If the petition gets over 15 million signing then they could reconsider otherwise what's the point of a democratic vote,? "Oh you only won by a million or so let's try best of 3"

Interestingly, early in the referendum night Nige was insisting that if it was 52:48 Remain, then there was "unfinished business" and that was not sufficient to be decisive on the issue.

I believe it was estimated to be around 75% of this age group voting to remain, turnout in the general election last year was 43% for this age group. If that turnout ends up being replicated in this referendum, then the result is a lot closer than actually turned out to be the case if more bothered to turn up and actually use their vote.

As for the loss of free movement, we'll have to wait and see. Most young British adults don't and wont learn a second language and as a result deem that as a barrier to taking advantage of going somewhere in Europe.

The BBC website has some interesting maps showing voters, ages etc. I thought showing the areas broken down, that voted remain/leave, revealed a lot. It wasn't quite so cut and dried as we have been lead to believe, perhaps.

Maybe just give a re do to England as Scotland may leave now anyhow.

But then it would be a land slide out vote I guess

Interesting. But where are the BMI stats? I want to validate my theory that the fatter you are the more like you were to vote leave.

According to this article fat persons were encouraged not to vote

So I ask you now: why are we letting fat people vote? I wonder why we should let these clinically disabled humans weigh in on our nation’s biggest issues. Obese people clearly lack the ability to contribute to civil discussion, so naturally they should be banned from voting in all aspects. Additionally, fat people should not even be operating vehicles or heavy machinery. This is a danger we have let slide unnoticed for far too long.
