Why is it that Canadian girls all dress like their old spinster aunty? People might sneer at the way British girls wear short skirts and make-up when they go out but at least they make a bit of an effort to look attractive not like some old frump-a-lump like thy do here.

If, on the other hand, you'd like to arrive early enough to have an excellent chance of grabbing the table in the library I mentioned, then early means before 5pm when all the local office staff come in for a Friday night pint (or funny cocktail thingy in a triangular glass).

Ah yes he would appreciate a few ciggie breaks.

We could even manage 5pm but don't want to be sitting staring at each other for an hour waiting for the arrival of massed British hordes.

I shall wear whatever is clean and fits.

No, not you. It doesn't matter how old you are either. I went out for a drink awhile ago with some BE's and they both looked very nice and dressed up and it wasn't even the weekend.

Oh, that happened here too. A poster who briefly populated the forum (and was very nice, but has since disappeared) showed up dressed in the latest expensive looking haute couture. Dead sexy, but highly inappropriate.

Never. It was the same in the US. I had to make a rule in my lectures that the students wore some sort of footwear as they'd come in pyjamas and bare feet while chewing tobacco and that was just the girls.

You sound like my father in law! Jerseygirl- sure you'll look lovely whatever you wear. I personally love Uggs but I'd get too hot in a pub..

Good news everyone. I'm not flying til the Sunday this week so I may well be able to partake in an alcoholic beverage or several.

Please though. I'm relying on you guys to intervene if I try to order poutine.
