I don't think she's touched drugs in recent years, she's looked painfully thin lately though, I reckon she's died from an eating disorder

Not skinny enough for that .... But if she was suffering anorexia .. That plus previous drug abuse could have caused heart issues :(

Professor Richard Hoggart died today. He was only 95, but I suppose he had a good innings. He may not have been a celebrity in the popular sense, but to me he was extremely important and without exception, a star. He will be missed. :(

Yes indeed. Our English Language teacher (I went to school in the days when we had both English Language and English Literature classes ;)) force fed us his book; not so much for content but HOW to write a book. It's been on my bookshelf ever since.

Thanks for flagging his death Oink - I would have missed it and the opportunity to saunter down memory lane with my morning coffee.

J :)

I'm quite sad about that. He was a triffic actor.

Young, too. Would have been worth a few points.

I thought Bob Hoskins was great - the English Gene Hackman. When he was diagnosed with Parkinson's he tweeted that he was giving up his acting career because he didn't think he could give the performance his audience deserved.

My sentiments also. Aside from The Long Good Friday being a truely classic film, I think one his best roles was a bit part as Nikita Kruschev in "Enemy at the Gates"
