Re: Canucks lost - vancouver riots!
I think they are all very naughty people and should stay at home for a day as punishment.
I put a pile of sugar in my boss's petrol tank when I was 17. But he was a pile of sh%t and treated his workers the same. I got sacked by the way. I saw a photo of a couple lying in the road kissing and cuddling in the midst of all the Vancouver carnage. Can't bloody find it now! Has anyone else seen it and give me the link? Please. |

I have never done any of those things either but if I was 20 years old, drunk and in yesterday's crowd, I just might have helped flip a cop car. I have ethics but I'm not above thinking I wouldn't get got up in a moment.

Why is being drunk somehow an excuse or reason to be part of a riot? I've been drunk on a number of occasions, some of which have led me to do silly things. Rioting has never been one of them. I suspect the majority of us, squares or not, are in that category.
But I have been a youth in BC, I have seen very close up the very heavy hand cops in Vancouver have wielded over people in that city, I know how that city is referred to a police state and why and I know the media was egging this on... it's a good story. It's not just about alcohol. |

I really don't think the cops were heavy handed. They were waaaaaaaaaaaay outnumbered.
Considering 1994, and all the bluster yesterday as to how they were ready for this eventuality when they were clearly not. |

So do you think the police higher ups should be answering some hard questions today?
Considering 1994, and all the bluster yesterday as to how they were ready for this eventuality when they were clearly not. Though the cognitive dissonance displayed on cbc was amazing. They had a reporter who covered the 94 riots saying that the police had clearly learned lessons from back then and were well prepared. His message was somewhat diminished by the rioting and burning cars behind him. |
